“Like what my brother Raymond said, ‘We eat bashers for breakfast.’ But not as much as we used to,” kaswal na sambit ni Ruffa nitong Disyembre 14, Sabado ng hapon, sa Cathy Valencia Advanced Skin Clinic, Icon Plaza, BGC, Taguig City.
“So, we’re used to it.
"Being in the business since I was 13, I’ve gotten used to the intrigues and, I think what’s really, really important is to surround yourself with a strong foundation.
“So, for me, that’s my family.
"Ahhmm, when I gain weight, my mom is the first one that says, ‘Day, ang taba-taba mo! Mukha ka nang matrona!’ ‘Ha?!’
“You know, what I mean, when some people lie to your face... my mom would just tell me the truth.
"I have loving brothers. I have a loving father.
“And you also need to age gracefully, and have a life outside show business.
"So, that’s what I’ve been doing since I was 13.
“I’ve not only been working and... show business, but I’ve also set aside investments for the rainy days.
“Because you know naman, the artistas, especially now, they come and go.
"It’s not like back in the day when you’re a star, you’re a star for many decades.
“Now, it’s like, ‘Ha?! Iba na naman?!’ You don’t even know them anymore.
“So, ahhmm, with my kids, what I want them to focus on is their education. I want them to study, makapagtapos sila.
“So, parang hobby or hilig lang nila ang showbusiness. But they really have a business that they can focus on.”

Sana, Ruffa becomes more visible in our local showbiz scene once again.
She can possibly get involved in lifestyle shows at maaari ring sumali sa training at selection ng new beauty queens.

Aniya, “I used to lie about my age all the time. I used to say, ‘I stopped counting at 25.’
Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha!
“I’m not scared to grow old dahil lahat naman tayo, tatanda.
Na we act like a teenager when we’re not.
“So, I think, I’ve got rid of my glitter clothes. All of my neons.
"Sabi ko, ‘My gosh! Even if neon pink is my favorite color, my gosh, I have to stick to the basics na.’ Navy blue, khaki, black.
"Minsan, puwede tayong magbagets. Pero huwag naman ‘yong TH.
“Because my daughters are also very outspoken, ‘Mommy, eewww, cringe! Can you delete that?’ Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Mga ganun. Maaarte na rin sila, ha?
“So, I make sure that I also think of them first as well.”
“I’ve been married, so, ako iyong tipong pinapakasalan, hindi kinakabit lang,” nakangiting tugon ni Ruffa.
