Ang criteria for judging ng tatanghaling kampeon ay Creativity and Originality (40%), Quality of Performance (40%), at Entertainment Value (20%).
"Over the weekend, my life has changed in an instant. I did not expect my victory to trigger so much negative comments and hate online.
"I was hurt and it also aches my heart to unintentionally hurt some people as well, especially the production team of Ang Huling El Bimbo The Musical.
"My final performance during the finals of The Pop Stage is an Eraserheads medley and was meant to be a tribute to my favorite artists and musical while also incorporating my own story and experiences.
"It is a piece that reflects my relationship with my friends, my role as a student, and my passion for music. It was also dedicated to all the students who endlessly strive in life."
"There was no intention whatsoever on my part to plagiarize. I am sorry if I caused undue distress, seemed disrespectful or if I have hurt the theater community."
"Honestly, the things that I’ve read slightly affected my mental health.
"I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank all of the people who messaged just to check up on me.
"Clearly, as an amateur and aspiring artist, I still have so many things to learn.
"I humbly ask for everyone’s understanding as I navigate this new world that I have recently entered.
"I am not a bad person. My intentions were far different from what people think."
"I am grateful for the support of my new management and the people behind The Pop Stage.
"I am also deeply thankful to The Pop Stage judges, Popeyes and my supporters for this life-changing opportunity.
"In this time of uncertainty, may we all have the heart to spread love among humanity."
"I am appealing to the people, companies and corporations involved in the AHEB plagiarism issue.
"You alone have the power to make this right. You have the power to teach a young man and all the young people out there about to join the world, our children, a most valuable lesson that can have no other effect except make them good and become better.
"You have the power to stand up for and give back to the art which has been a source of life for all of us."
"You have the power to set an example and for once do the right thing, and become a beacon of hope in these dark times ruled by greed, hate and lies.
"Yes there are even more pressing matters out there, but in the end this will not just be about a song, a contract, a million pesos, or credit.
"Your actions will set a precedent and have repercussions in the years to come. On which side of history do you want to be on? Search your hearts for the truth and it will set you free."
I heard that Viva (a sponsor) will issue a statement tomorrow.
I trust that both Popeyes and Viva will work towards acknowledging that
1.) There was a lapse in verifying the originality of the entry presented (unless they really just relied on the participant’s declaration).
2.) There is a question on the integrity of the participant (and eventual winner) of the competition given his dishonesty and belated recognition of the supposed inspiration of his work. So, ano ang aksyon dito?
3.) That given the many views presented and public call-outs on this issue, the organizers should take the proper measures to correct the alleged wrongdoing committed by all parties concerned.
Hindi ito malulutas ng basta pananahimik lamang. Dapat ay may agarang aksyon.
Let us strive to push for integrity, transparency, and excellence in every endeavor.
Aniya, "One would think if you’re an artist you’d have so much time to hone your craft and better yourself during this pandemic. Kasi nga, marami tayong time.
"But some people want it the easy way. There’s this guy (backed up by his own production team), while being a contestant of a musical reality game show about originality, stole musical arrangements from a famous jukebox musical and claimed it as his own.
"Yes, nagnakaw ng areglo. Merong konting tweaks here and there pero same speed, same tempo, same BPM, similar riffs, same bass lines, similar drum patterns, same key, same musical intention.
"What were they thinking? Ang lakas ng loob nila. They thought they’d get away with it? Na walang makakahalata? Hello?
"Saang kangkungan kaya sila pupulutin after this?"
Tweet niya, "Hello! I'm new here.. Oh just in case, here's my business card (victim card)."
