Nakaalalay si Liza Diño-Seguerra sa kanyang asawang si Ice Seguerra, na apektado sa pinagdaraanan ng amang nakaratay dahil sa sakit na cancer.
Ayon kay Liza, stage 4 na ang prostate cancer ng ama ni Ice na si Decoroso "Dick" Seguerra.
Nahihirapan na ang ama ni Ice, kaya may pain management na ginagawa kapag nakararanas ang ama ng sobrang sakit.
"Right now kasi, like yung Dad ni Ice, si Daddy Dick, meron siyang stage 4 cancer na metastasized na siya, na we really have to give him pain management," sabi ni Liza nang nakapanayam namin sa DZRH noong August 18, Martes ng gabi..
Kaya nandiyan lang siya para suportahan si Ice.
Isang bagay na napansin ni Liza ay mas naging close daw si Ice sa mga magulang nito. "Nakikita ko si Ice, lagi siya dumadalaw kay Daddy.
"Tapos, yung mga bagay na hindi pa nila napapag-usapan dahil bata pa siya nun o yung mga kinikimkim niyang mga sama ng loob, nagkaroon sila ng chance na mag-usap.
"Kasi nga si Daddy…. he knows his situation… he wants to make up sa mga pagkukulang. Napag-usapan yung mga hindi napag-usapan dati. So, nakikita ko kung paano sila naging mas close ngayon.
"Yung nangyari sa pamilya ni Ice, sina Mommy, si Daddy, lalo silang pinagbuklod ng sitwasyon."
Inamin ni Liza na first time niyang makitang umiyak si Ice, pero pinipilit daw nitong maging matapang at matatag alang-alang sa pamilya.
Kuwento pa ni Liza: "Alam mo si Ice, madalang mong makikitang umiyak 'yan. Kaya kapag umiyak siya, alam mo na talagang sobrang nasasaktan na siya.
"Nakita ko yung fear niya, yung takot niya. Naramdaman ko yung… Kasi siyempre, minsan pag dumating na yung sitwasyon, huli mong naiisip na may sakit si Daddy.
"Ang iniisip mo na lang, kung ano yung ngayon. Kung papa'no ninyo ma-embrace yung araw na ‘to.
"Nakita ko talaga siya umiyak. Sobra akong nag-aalala sa kanya. Pero ang tapang niya, sobrang tapang niya."
Hindi maiwasan ni Liza na maihalintulad ang kalagayan ng ama ni Ice sa pagkakasakit ng kasamahan sa industriya na si John Regala.
Isa si Liza sa mga tumulong mag-asikaso kay John nang ma-confine ang aktor sa ospital kamakailan.
Si John ay may sakit na liver cirrhosis at gout.
"So, naintindihan ko talaga na kailangan nila ng pain-management medication para lang maging kumportable sila at makatulog sila at, you know, ma-release sila sa pang-araw-araw.
"Because sa condition ni Kuya John, hindi rin naman talaga siya biro, di ba? So, talagang nahihirapan din siya. Yung aspeto na yun, naintindihan ko yung part na yun.
"Kasi, si Daddy Dick, ganun din, e. Kaya ginagawan namin ng paraan kung paano siya mapagaan at kumportable yung pang-araw araw niya."

Ipagdarasal natin si Ice at ang kanyang pamilya sa binubuno nilang pagkakasakit ng ama.
Isasama natin sila sa ating mga dasal, pati na ang mga kasamahan sa industriya na may ganitong pinagdaraanan.

Sa kabila ng pangyayaring ito sa buhay ng mag-asawang Ice at Liza, tuluy-tuloy ang trabaho ni Liza bilang chair ng Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP).
Nakatutok pa rin siya sa mga kaganapan sa pagdiriwang ng Centennial ng Pelikulang Pilipino sa kabila ng pandemya.
Noong Agosto 15, Sabado, ay ikaapat na taon na niya sa FDCP.
Ipinahiwatig ni Liza na hindi raw madali ang isyung kinahaharap ng FDCP.
Tila kaugnay ito ng pagtutol ng iba't ibang grupo mula sa audio-visual industry sa safety protocols na nais ipatupad ng FDCP ngayong pandemya.
Pati si Senator Vicente Sotto III—na isa sa framers ng batas na bumuo sa FDCP—ay nagsabing hindi raw saklaw ng mandato ng FDCP ang mag-regulate ng panuntunan para sa audio-visual industry.
Sa parte ni Liza, naniniwala siyang ang pagkakaroon ng standardized system ay para sana sa ikabubuti ng film industry sa bansa.
Bahagi ng post niya sa Facebook noong August 15: "What the pandemic has agitated and highlighted as an unfortunate fact in the industry is that while the Philippine Film Industry is considered one of the oldest in Asia, it is still very fragmented and mostly made up of informal entities and workers.
"Each sector works with a silo mentality—with their own systems and own way of doing things.
"While other countries have set film policies and parameters to support the various aspects of the filmmaking process, our local industry has been, for the most part, operated and moved on its own through self-regulation.
"This needs to be addressed. Instituting structural reforms is key to development.
"From having set minimum standards on the working conditions of all workers to facilitating and encouraging the proper development of film projects; having a sector-specific framework in the protection of intellectual property rights, adherence to the international technical standards in the production of films, to establishing better distribution policies when exhibiting films in cinemas and other platforms - these aspects need to have a more definite structure for our industry and its players to thrive.
"We have to change—no matter how painful, in order to survive and thrive. And FDCP will not stop aspiring for that much-needed change.
"The FDCP is dedicated to provide its support for the industry in developing not just the film culture in the country but also capitalize on making the film and audiovisual industry as valuable contributors to the economy by introducing policies and structures that can further elevate the local film industry and be more globally competitive..."
FDCP PARTNERS WITH ASIAN TELEVISION AWARDS 2021
Noong Agosto 19, Miyerkules, ibinalita ni Liza sa stakeholders ng local entertainment industry na bukas na muli ang pagsumite ng entries para sa Asian Televison Awards (ATA) na gaganapin sa Cambodia sa January 2021.
"We are pleased to support and partner with the ATA for the 25th year of Asian Television Awards.
"Just this year, January 10 to 12, 2020, Asian Television Awards celebrated its 24th year here in the Philippines at Newport Performing Arts Theaters of the Resorts World Manila in Pasay City, with a total of 11 acts, from Anggun, Dick Lee, Jona, Morrissette, Martin Nievera, 4th Impact, Hoang Yen Chibi, Jasmine Henry, Arman Ferrer, Tien Chong and Cherry Bullet.
"On January 15 to 17, 2021, ATA will celebrate its silver year at Nagaworld, Phnom Penh, Cambodia with Bayon TV as official broadcast partner.

FDCP CELEBRATES BUWAN NG WIKA WITH A CONTEST
Nitong Agosto 20, Huwebes, inilunsad naman ng FDCP ang "Sine Wikain: Sandaang Pagpapaalala," bilang bahagi ng pagdiriwang ng "Buwan ng Wika" at closing ng Sine Sandaan: The One Hundred Years of Philippine Cinema.
Isa itong online challenge para sa participants na gagawa ng vertical short films, gamit ang mobile phones, na ang tema ay base sa isa sa 100 salawikain na nasa listahan ng FDCP.
"Each short film must contain a maximum running time of two minutes. The various salawikain tackle a broad number of topics about life, love, family, friendship, and character development.
"There will be two categories available depending on the participant’s age, an adult category and a youth category for those aged 17 and below.
"Any individual may place [his/her] entry online by simply posting on social media, either through Facebook, Twitter, and/or TikTok.
"Participants may likewise form groups with their friends with a maximum of three people under each submission. Each individual or group is limited to one entry for the challenge."
Ang premyo ay PHP15,000 para sa 1st placer, PHP10,000 sa 2nd placer, at PHP5,000 para sa third placer.
Ang mga mananalo ay iaanunsiyo sa September 23 sa Facebook at Twitter accounts ng FDCP at sa social media accounts ng Pista Ng Pelikulang Pilipino at Sine Sandaan.
