Sa wakas, naipaliwanag kung bakit naging pink ang red threads sa art installation na KAINGIN sa Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), Roxas Boulevard, Pasay City.

Noong Abril 30, 2022, nag-umpisa sa CCP Front Lawn ang KAINGIN: An Earth Month Art Installation by Jinggoy Buensuceso, curated by Junyee as a continuation of Angud Installation (2007). Hanggang Mayo 30 ang nasabing exhibit.
Ang paliwanag tungkol sa pulang laso: "The red thread of fate is tied around the world, and it’s a tie that binds us.
"This is a prayer for a revolution, and each one of us is the revolution."

KAINGIN Forest Bloomed in Pink."

Ayon sa VAMD ng CCP, "This is to address the statement released by the Cultural Center of the Philippines Office of the President at the official Facebook page of the Center regarding the 'unauthorized action taken by a few personnel to deck the front lawn of the CCP with ribbons donning the color associated with one of the presidential candidates . . . a blatant and brazen violation of election rules.'
"The ribbons form part of an installation at the CCP Front Lawn called ‘Kaingin’ by artist Jinggoy Buensuceso which, when launched last 30 April 2022, used red ribbons to connect one thousand sculptural bulul’s or anthropomorphic figures, as part of the Earth Month celebration.
"The artist submitted a proposal to modify the installation by using pink ribbons to signify the '…flame of renewal, hope, and love for Motherland.' (‘Kaingin Forest Blooms in Pink, Tao-Tao Kasama Ka Ba sa Isang Libo?’ artist statement).
"The proposal was submitted to the Office of the Artistic Director and approved cognizant of artistic processes that usually accompany such interactive installations and without prejudice to any election related activity.
"It is within the artist’s right to freedom of expression to create, present and evolve his/her artistic work.
"It is the responsibility of curators and arts administrators, as ourselves working in the government center for the arts, to defend these rights and ensure a safe space for artistic creation, development and appreciation.
"There was no intended ‘breach of electoral laws’ nor ‘betrayal of public trust’ in allowing this artistic exercise that seeks to call attention to ‘the most serious environmental and human struggles.’
"At best, the art installation seeks to generate a healthy conversation with the community in looking for more intentional solutions that sustain our humanity."

Basta with the way things are unfolding, the best art is created during challenging times.
Kaya here’s to the best works of art by Filipinos in the coming days!!!
GORGY RULA
