Paglilinaw ni Vice Mayor Gian, “In relation to the recent news, the Office of the Vice Mayor assures the public that no violation of the internal rules or procedures were made by the concerned councilors.
“The guidelines that are circulating online are already obsolete (note that it still mentions the term ‘beepers') and does not provide for restrictions against creative display of talents when council is not in session.
“Further, we value the artistic personality of our councilors as they serve our Quezon City constituents as legislators with the same passion and commitment.
“Since our term started last July 2022, the 22nd Quezon City Council has already passed 74 ordinances and 334 resolutions, with landmark legislations pertaining to mental health, promotion of local businesses, social services, education, and traffic management.
“Our performance shows that we have been fulfilling our mandate to the best of our abilities, even achieving the Commission on Audit's Unqualified Opinion three years in a row as a testament of our good governance in the Quezon City Government.
“Rest assured that the 22nd Quezon City Council will continue with our goal to serve our Citizens with good governance, full transparency, and genuine public service.”

GORGY RULA
Nitong Hunyo 21, Miyerkukes ng gabi ay nag-post sa Facebook ang boyfriend ni Aiko na si Congressman Jay Khonghun tungkol sa isaping ito.
Pahayag ni Congressman Khonghun, “In light of the recent news involving Councilor Aiko Melendez, the Office of Congressman Jay Khonghun would like to first correct the statement of former COMELEC Commissioner Rowena Guanzon that the viral Tik-Tok videos of QC District 5 Councilor Aiko Melendez were done at the Plenary Hall of the House of Representatives. Those videos were taken at the Quezon City Session Hall.
“The videos received unfair criticism against the actions of Councilor Aiko and the other officials as disrespectful to the institution they are representing but as per the statement of QC Vice Mayor Gian Sotto, Councilor Aiko and others did not violate any internal rules or procedure of the Quezon City Council and it was recorded prior to their scheduled session.
“Councilor Aiko has an exemplary record as a councilor of District 5. She was never involved in any corrupt and dishonest practices while serving her term. This Tik-Tok video should not taint her hardwork and dedication as a city councilor as if she did a crime.
“To all social media users, while we respect your right to call out public officials in the performance of their duties, social media is not a great place to advocate misinformation and personal attacks. “Besides, would you prefer a public official who publicly posts TikTok videos for fun or a public official who steals public money quietly?”

OK naman kung walang nilabag na batas.
There’s just a lesson to be learned here, kahit may sari-sarili tayong artistic expression, na iginagalang natin. Somehow, there’s a proper place and time to do things.
Peace and love to all!!!
