VIC SOTTO: FROM COMEDIAN TO DRAMATIC ACTOR
Nagpasalamat si Vic Sotto sa pagtangkilik ng moviegoers sa MMFF 2024 entry nila ni Piolo Pascual na The Kingdom.
“It has become a very big hit,” sambit ni Bossing Vic sa presscon ng Sante Barley noong Martes ng hapon, Eenero 14, sa Luxent Hotel, Timog Avenue, Quezon City.
“We’ve been receiving a lot of good reviews, good comments. As a matter of fact, natutuwa nga ako sa isang nag-comment na, ‘Vic Sotto is in the wrong genre for so many years,’ sabi niya. Ha! Ha! Ha!
“Baka magbago na ako, maging drama actor na. Ha! Ha! Ha!
“Kidding aside, ninanamnam ko pa yung pagtanggap sa akin ng mga manonood ng pelikulang Pilipino.
“Na nung una, parang kabado ako, e. Tatanggapin ba ako in a serious role from start to finish? Tatanggapin ba nila na ako’y matetegi?
“Para dun sa mga hindi nakapanood, sorry, spoiler alert. And so, nakita ko ang outcome. Pinanood ko yung… after viewing the film, sulit lahat ng pagod.

“Dahil I must admit, talagang sobrang pagod ang paggawa namin nung pelikula.
“For so many months, I was memorizing my lines. I was in front of the mirror. Tinitingnan ko ang sarili ko. Ano ba ang itsura ko pagka sarado yung kilay, ganun.
“Paano ko maipo-portray yun with the help of my best director Michael Tuviera, at sa tulong din ng mga kasama ko sa pelikula.
“Kasi, they serve as an inspiration for me, e. Nakita ko kung gaano kaseryoso si Piolo, gaano kaseryoso si Sid Lucero. Pati yung mga anak kong babae, si Cristine [Reyes], si Sue Ramirez.
“They were very serious about their roles. Talagang they were giving it all, one hundred percent. Sabi ko, kailangan ganun din ako.
“So when I was watching the finished product, I felt that I was an amateur compared to these actors and actresses.
“Pero it paid off. Kumbaga tanggal lahat yung pagod ko, yung puyat namin. We started filming July. We finished almost December na.
“Dahil na rin siguro sunud-sunod yung bagyo. Dami naming pack-up. So it’s all worth it. Sulit, sulit naman talaga lahat yung pagod.”

MANILA INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL
As we write this, narito ang latest statement ng Manila International Film Festival sa kanilang Facebook page:
“Organizers of the Hollywood-based Manila International Film Festival today announced the postponement of its 2nd Annual edition due to continuing recovery efforts amidst the Palisades and Eaton Fires throughout Los Angeles County.
“No one was immune from the effect of the fires including our dedicated festival team.
“Moreover, a significant contingent of participants are from out of town, many from outside the country, especially the filmmakers and their respective teams. We certainly owed them reassurances which we could not provide.
“As a result, we have decided to make the difficult, but necessary decision to postpone our festival to a later date to be determined.
“In the meantime, our planning will go on unabated as will our continuing support for relief efforts and for our beloved first responders here in our hometown and home region.”
