Sa umpisa ng BL (boys love) series na Love At First Spike (LAFS) ay basketball player si Uno Santillan, ang karakter ni Emilio Daez.
Kapagkuwan ay napunta si Uno sa volleyball team, kung saan lider ang dati niyang kaibigan na si Jared na ginampanan ni Sean Tristan.
“It was a very good transition,” lahad ni Emilio sa mediacon noong Hunyo 18, 2025, Miyerkules, sa Gateway Mall, Cubao, Quezon City.
“I’m very active. So it’s innate in me to play sports. I’m very competitive, alam niyo yan.
“So, talagang hindi kami nagpatalo and, of course, we’d like to thank our coaches again, and of course the prod for setting us up with good trainings.
“And makikita niyo talaga na ginalingan talaga namin sa lahat ng mga sports scenes namin.
“So, hopefully, the volleyball community will appreciate that because we put in a lot of hard work and dedication into it.”

DREAM COME TRUE FOR EMILIO DAEZ
Bilang artista, ano ang natutunan niya sa eight-episode BL series na Love at First Spike?
“This is a dream come true for me because this is my first lead role ever. And you know I’ve always dreamt of being a leading man here at ABS-CBN, in the industry,” saad ni Emilio.
“So I’m very happy and thankful and humbled to be given this opportunity.
“And you know, I know the amount of dedication and hard work that it needs, [what] it takes to lead a series.
“So that’s something that I’ve learned and dala-dala ko yan sa mga susunod na projects.”
Relatively new siya sa showbiz, pero bida na agad ngayon sa isang BL series.
Paano niya pinaghandaan ang kanyang role? Mas may pressure ba ngayon, lalo’t galing siya sa Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) Celebrity Collab Edition?
“So I take a big part of, you know, taking on any project with a lot of preparations,” tugon ni Emilio.
“So that was a big part of it. And you know, it’s through acting workshops, getting my body ready, so I had a very rigorous program before this.
“And of course, you know, workshops with the whole cast. We did that to prepare. Aside from workshops, we did the volleyball trainings.
“And I guess when it comes to pressure after PBB, I don’t think there’s any pressure naman.
“But I put a lot of pressure on myself to do well, to do my best in everything that I do.
“So I’m excited for everyone to see the fruits of our labor because everyone worked very, very hard.
“And I’m just very grateful for this opportunity.”

GORGY RULA
Paano niya naitawid ang intense or emotional scenes sa co-stars niya sa LAFS?
“It’s definitely about trust and teamwork. Kasi dito sa show namin, we’re all very, very close,” sabi ni Emilio Daez.
“And we all work very, very hard closely together. And because we work so hard together, that trust is built through that.
“And we really just rely on each other. Of course we rely on Direk Ivan [Andrew Payawal]… everyone on prod.
“And they’re the ones who really guide us to where we are. I think one of the biggest strengths of this cast is that we’re very close, and makikita niyo yun sa show na ito.”
EMILIO CONSIDERS BROTHER MIKAEL HIS "GUIDING LIGHT"
Ano ang sabi ng kuya niyang si Mikael Daez ngayong lead role na siya sa LAFS?
“Sobrang saya para sa akin siyempre. Palagi ko pong sinasabi, wala pong Emilio Daez dito kung wala pong Mikael Daez,” tugon ng Kapamilya actor.
“So I owe a lot to him. He is my guiding light. He is always there behind me. He’s one of my biggest supporters and I love him very much.”
Nakaka-pressure bang maging kapatid ni Mikael? Na may expectation sa kanyang maging magaling para hindi mapahiya ang kuya niya?
“I wouldn’t say it’s pressure. Pero siyempre, gusto kong galingan para din sa pamilya ko,” saad ni Emilio.
“Especially for my brad, ang dami rin niyang pinaghirapan sa channel niya, and ang dami niyang ginanap na project.
“I know the dedication that he puts into [his work], so it would be a disservice if I didn’t do the same.”
