“Masaya kasi naalala ko yung mga Bagong Kampeon days nila ni Tito Bert,” tugon ni Jackie Lou sa mediacon ng Cinemalaya 2025 noong Setyembre 3, 2025, Miyerkules, sa East Atrium ng Shangri-La Plaza, EDSA cor. Shaw Blvd., Mandaluyong City.
“It was nice to reminisce and think of those times that they were such a great tandem, and that their show did very well.
“Ang daming na-produce na mga singers na magagaling, Regine [Velasquez] being one.”
Ang Tito Bert na tinutukoy ni Jackie Lou ay ang comedian-host na si Bert “Tawa” Marcelo, na ginampanan ni Eric Nicolas.

May dementia na si Pilita nang gampanan ni Jackie Lou ang karakter nito for the first time.
“But she was still OK when we did that,” pakli ni Jackie Lou, na nilinaw na hindi gown ni Pilita ang isinuot niya sa eksena.

Natigilan sandali si Jackie Lou bago sumagot: “In fact, it was only the other day that I was able to post during her birthday.
“Kasi we already put her in her final resting place. Meron kasi talaga yung mom ko sa Himlayan with my tito, with her mom. So, pinaayos lang namin.
“Maliit lang naman, pinaayos na namin. So, yeah, I think I felt it more. More then. But ang grief kasi, it comes in waves, e.
“Even with Ricky [Davao], you know. Na there are days I’m OK. There are days… wala, minsan naman, OK.
“Minsan naman, it will just take one thing. Minsan I’ll smell something. Ano ba yun, di ba? Lalo na my children.
“But you know, you take it a day at a time. And you just do what you can, di ba? If there are days that are not so good, wala ka namang choice, di ba?”
Tapos, makakasanayan mo na lang…
Napabuntong-hininga si Jackie Lou: “They say… it gets manageable. More manageable. Para daw siyang… bola.
“If this is your pain when you lose someone, and yung bola ay gumaganun-ganun, it hits sides.
“Even if that ball becomes smaller, if it will hit the side, it’s still as painful.
“But I think you’ll just do better, you’ll just be able to manage more your emotions as time goes.
“Is it less painful? I don’t think so. But parang mas kinakaya mo na lang siguro dahil sa tagal.”
Tuloy ba yung family bonding nila every Sunday?
Tumango si Jackie Lou: “Ginagawa namin ngayon. It’s either we go out, or… but it’s still ano, marami pa kasing aayusin sa house ni mommy.
“We’ve looked at some of her stuff. But yung gowns, hindi pa. Parang iisa-isahin namin to see what we can donate, what we can put somewhere else, di ba?
“What the kids would like to keep, what I would like to have of mom’s stuff.”

Ano ang pananaw niya sa mga pinag-uusapang isyu ngayon, partikular ang flood control projects at talamak na katiwalian sa gobyerno?
“It’s sad. I’m saddened about it because you think na OK, it’s happened when I was much younger,” saad ni Jackie Lou.
“I’m already in my 60s and it’s still happening. So, parang… ano na’ng nangyari? Do we have to have a bloody revolution for us to wake up?
“Do we need to be more prayerful? Do we need to be more vigilant? Di ba? Nakakalungkot.”
Mas nakakalungkot para sa mga mayroong mga anak at mga apo…
“Di ba, kasi, iniisip mo, paano na iyong mundo pag lumaki na sila? Di ba?” pag-ayon ni Jackie Lou.
“Kakayanin ba nila? Di ba? To live in a world like that. Kaya nga I can understand some couples who don’t want to have children.
“Because they’re disappointed with what’s happening. Di ba? Parang, ‘Huwag na lang. OK na, tayo na lang, kasi kaya natin.’
“Paano sila, di ba? It’s very difficult to raise children during our times now, and even grandchildren.
“With so many things out there — may good naman, but of course, there’s still the not so good.”

Kasama si Jackie Lou Blanco sa cast ng Cinemalaya 2025 full length feature na Paglilitis (A Trial), sa direksyon ni Cheska Marfori.
Co-stars niya rito sina Rissey Reyes-Robinson, Eula Valdes, Leo Martinez, Sid Lucero, Bombi Plata, Rolando Inocencio, Cherry Malvar, Barbara Miguel, Marnie Lapus, Carlo Gonzalez, at Paolo O’Hara.
Sa istorya, mag-asawa sina Leo at Jackie Lou.
“Ang karakter ni Leo, isang lalaking sexually harassing… nagse-sexually harass siya sa mga… parang nagawa na niya before, pero this time, ito lang yung nagreklamo,” kuwento ni Jackie Lou.
“I think parang this is the first time I’m playing a role of a wife to somebody who is sexually harassing somebody else.
“And my character is alam niya. Parang she’s heard about it before. And yet she still stands by her husband, pero alam niya.”
JACKIE LOU CO-STARS WITH ROYCE CABRERA IN THE FOXTROT
May special participation si Jackie Lou sa isa pang Cinemalaya 2025 full-length film, yung Open Endings na bida sina Janella Salvador, Klea Pineda, Leanne Mamonong, at Jasmine Curtis-Smith.
Ang 21st edition ng Cinemalaya indie filmfest ay gaganapin sa Oktubre 3-12 sa Shangri-La Plaza.
Sa Oktubre 17-26 naman ang rerun ng Dedma twinbill sa The Mirror Studio Theater, Kalayaan Ave., Brgy. Poblacion, Makati City.
Ang dalawang dula sa Dedma ay The Foxtrot at Let’s Do Lunch.
Magkatambal sa restaging na ito ng The Foxtrot sina Jackie Lou at Royce Cabrera. Before ay si JC Santos ang kapartner ng 61-anyos na aktres.
“Naka-first dance rehearsal pa lang kami ni Royce. Pero siyempre, iba yung timpla with me and JC, iba rin with Royce,” sabi ni Jackie Lou.
Naka-partner ng yumao niyang asawang si Ricky Davao si Royce sa Cinemalaya 2019 full-length film na Fuccbois.
Natawa si Jackie Lou at sinabing alam niya yun.
“Pagkatapos ni Ricky, ako naman. Mas titillating nga lang yung mga eksena nila doon. Kami naman, dance lang,” sambit ni Jackie Lou.
Masaya ako, bilang manager ni Jackie Lou, na nasa era siya ng pagpapahusay bilang artista.
Bukas siya sa kahit na anong role, OK siyang mag-audition (katulad dito sa Cinemalaya) at hindi pera-pera ang kanyang oryentasyon.
Kaya kung meron pang mas challenging na materyal na hahamon at magpapalabas ng husay niya bilang aktres saan man — TV, pelikula, entablado, singer, dancer, at host — game siya!
Kaya naman ang tawag sa kanya, JLB… Jackie Lou BLESSED!
