“I’m sharing as much as I can in terms of information where people can donate,” sabi ni Chai sa mediacon ng CreaZion Studios Artists (CSA) noong Oktubre 9, 2025, Huwebes, sa Midnight Dream Studios, K-Park, Glorietta 1, Makati City.
“And of course nagdo-donate din nang kahit konti, you know. But I remember yung malaking lindol din noong 2013 because I was there.
“So I can only imagine the fear the people, you know, experienced and also the aftermath of it. Na the people are suffering right now.
“I just hope that help comes soon. I know that in Cebu, ahh this is what we usually do when areas are devastated within our province — we act kaagad.
“Like in 2013, we were still reeling from the aftershocks, we were still reeling from like maybe a big typhoon na parang shookt pa kaming lahat.
“Pero habang nag-iimpake ng mga relief goods that we can send out to whichever area need it.
“So I’m sure that the private sector is working. I just really hope that the national government is, you know, nakatutok din sila.
“Kasi, we need a lot of help. We need a lot of help. The private sector alone cannot do it, you know.”

CHAI FONACIER ON CALAMITIES AND CORRUPTION
I am proud but also kind of angry.
"Kasi ano, e, not angry at the Cebuanos, but angry at the fact that we have to do it on our own a lot of times.
“Like, not just in Cebu, in a lot of other places also in the Philippines. Yung mga binabaha.
“When calamities strike, we work our asses off to help each other out when it’s supposedly like the government is supposed to have money for that.
“And of course, in light of all the recent proceedings of the corruption cases and all that stuff…
“We know that the corruption has been happening for decades, you know. The people have been suffering for ages and ages and still nothing is happening.
“So, in as much as I see the big hearts of the people when they come together, when we come together to help each other out, it also makes me angry.
“Where’s the goddamn government and all of this? Where’s our money? Give us our money back, you know! That kind of thing.
“So, nandoon yung galit ko. Magkahalo siya. May halong gratitude sa bayanihan spirit natin that’s still there, but also anger towards the people that we should be angry at.”

NOEL FERRER

Hinaing ni Chai: “Walang proper evacuation centers and all of that stuff. So, you know. I also cannot blame really the LGU.
“Kasi, the LGUs are also parang bottom of the pecking order din sila. So parang…
“Top to bottom kasi yan. Kung may problema sa itaas, magkakaproblema talaga sa ibaba.
“So, parang let’s hold the people at the top accountable, you know.”
CHAI FONACIER JOINS NATIONAL PROTEST
“So, pumunta kami ng Luneta. Nagmartsa kami doon,” sambit ni Chai.
“And then after that, we went... shortly after around lunch time para makahabol kami doon sa EDSA, lumuwas na kami. Pumunta na kami doon.
“Mabilisang kain tapos gora na!”
Meron daw uling kilos-protesta sa November 30, Bonifacio Day.
“Pakiramdaman natin iyan at baka siputin natin! Ha! Ha! Ha!” halakhak ni Chai, na napanood sa katatapos lang na Kapuso primetime series na Beauty Empire.

GORGY RULA
Ang reaksiyon ng iba matapos ang September 21 protest rally, iyon na iyon? Hanggang doon lang?
“Yeah that’s the problem kasi with ano, with… hindi naman problem. Parang yung usual na challenge ba,” pagmamatwid ni Chai Fonacier.
“Na kapag nagkakaroon ng movement, how do you sustain that awareness? How do you sustain that awareness in the next few weeks?
“That’s why along with, like sharing content about yung mga disaster centers, or kung sino ang puwedeng makontak ng mga people, I also keep sharing content stories about what’s going on sa mga proceedings.
“Or share my opinions on IG stories... as I watch out for the news. Because I mean, I am just one person. I cannot solve the problems of the world.
“But if there’s anything that I can contribute is to keep abreast of what’s happening.
“And to keep that fire alive. And to keep being aware of what’s going on.”
