Humakot ng walong tropeyo ang Dreamboi sa awards night ng inaugural CineSilip filmfest noong Oktubre 27, 2025, Lunes, sa Viva Cafe sa Cubao, Quezon City.
Ang Dreamboi na dalawang beses na-X ng MTRCB ay nagwagi sa mga kategoryang best film, best director (Rodina Singh), best supporting actor (Migs Almendras), best cinematography (Malay Javier), best editing (Arnex Nicolai), best production design (Chips Dai Abando), best sound (Immanuel Varona & John Buquid), at Audience Choice Award.
Anim na beses umakyat sa entablado si Direk Rodina para tumanggap ng tropeyo.
Ang Dreamboi winners na present sa awards night ay ang best supporting actor na si Migs, at ang best editing winner na si Arnex.

RODINA SING WINS BEST DIRECTOR
Pinaka-emotional si Rodina sa pagtanggap ng best director trophy, kung saan napaluha siya.
Bahagi ng acceptance speech ni Direk Rodina: “Ahhmm sorry, hindi po talaga kami expecting. Ahhmm I’ll be very, very honest.
“Coming into this festival, I have lost my faith to actually be given the chance to do a film again. I thought this industry wasn’t meant for girls like me.
“And then I’m really, really grateful for… for… CineSilip for actually giving us the opportunity to bring this story to life.
“I share this award to everybody who had believed in… what we had, what we can bring to the table regardless of so many difficulties.
“My God! Magkukuwento lang po kami — apat na sinehan, isang linggo. Dalawang milyong piso.
“Pero bawal daw kaming ipalabas.
“I share this award to everybody who had believed in what we can bring to life.
“To Tony Labrusca for believing in what we can do. Si Tony, halos libre na since siya na’ng gumastos nung transformation niya.
“And thank you for saying yes kahit hindi ka pa nakakabasa ng script.
“To EJ [Jallorina], I share this award with you. Kasi, since the first draft, alam mo na yung script kung saan siya pupunta.
“To Migs, o, may award ka na!”
Pinasalamatan ni Direk Rodina si Direk Antoinette Jadaone, na maraming naituro sa kanya.
Ibinahagi rin ni Rodina ang tropeyo kay Moira Lang na nag-inspire sa mga kapwa transpeople.
Dagdag ni Direk Rodina: “Hindi kami token! Hindi po kami token… Sa isang sineng malaya, ang mga kuwentong tulad ni Dreamboi at ng lahat ng ginawa ng mga direktor sa kauna-unahang CineSilip, hindi lang ito dapat sinisilip.
“Dapat, pinapanalo natin!”
Sa pitong kalahok sa CineSilip 2025 ay itong Dreamboi lamang ang may screenings outside the festival.
Sa Oktubre 29, Miyerkules, ay magpapasilip ito sa Fairview Terraces, Ayala Malls Legazpi, at Ayala Malls Cloverleaf.

NOEL FERRER
Ang tatlong hurado ng 1st CineSilip filmfest ay sina Joy Aquino, Erik Matti, at Tito Valiente. Sa kanilang tatlo ay si Joy lamang ang dumalo sa awards ceremony.
Katuwang ni Joy bilang presenter sa tatlong best film ang festival director na si Ronald Arguelles.
DREAMBOI: BEST FILM
Ang citation para sa best film na Dreamboi ay isinulat ni Joy.
Aniya: “We chose Dreamboi for its precision — clear and confident without ever feeling restrictive. It’s direct in its message, yet elevated by the playfulness of its directorial voice, which adds vibrancy and rhythm to the story.
“Beneath its bold clarity lies a deep sense of humanity — a tenderness that invites us to listen, to reflect, and to feel seen.

PAGDAONG: SECOND BEST FILM
Kay Direk Erik Matti natoka ang jury statement para sa 2nd best film, ang Pagdaong na tinampukan nina Angela Morena, Astrid Lee, Ashley Lopez, at Chester Grecia, sa direksiyon ni Pongs Leonardo.
Aniya: “Pagdaong is a story about gender, abuse, and toxic mentorship — but at its heart, it’s about love. “Not romantic love, but learning to love yourself.
“It follows a poet who wakes up to the truth that she deserves a better life. The film also explores the question: is art about what the artist wants to say, or what the audience wants to see?
“The actors give strong, believable performances, not just in emotional moments but also in the deeper conversations about life and art.
“Even if the film leans a bit heavily on its themes and discussions, the story still stands out as engaging and emotionally grounded — with polished scenes and characters that feel real and alive.”
Natamo rin ng Pagdaong ang tropeong best actress para kay Angela.

HAPLOS SA HANGIN: THIRD BEST FILM
Ang MPP member na si Tito Valiente ang nagsulat ng jury statement para sa 3rd best film na Haplos sa Hangin, na na-X ng MTRCB sa unang review.
Nasa cast ng Haplos sa Hangin sina Martin del Rosario, Denise Esteban, Angelica Cervantes, Vincent Pajara, at Jorrybell Agoto, sa direksyon ni Mikko Baldoza.
Ani Tito: “Despite its tentative tone, Haplos Sa Hangin weaves a charm that is dark and invigorating.
“The narrative pulses and the three characters are real presences, with actor Martin del Rosario at the core of this cautionary, dangerous romance.”
Ang tatlo pang tropeyo ng Haplos sa Hangin ay para sa best actor (Martin del Rosario), best screenplay (Sonny Calvento & Mikko Baldoza), at best musical score (Paulo Almacen).
Ang best supporting actress ay si Chloe Jenna para sa Maria Azama: Best P*rn Star.
Walang nakuhang award ang Salikmata, Babae sa Butas, at Ang Lihim ni Maria Makinang.

GORGY RULA
Dalawampu’t dalawa (22) ang nominadong artista sa apat na acting categories ng CineSilip 2025.
Yung apat na acting winners ay sa magkakaibang pelikula nagwagi.
Apat ang nominadong best actor, samantalang tig-aanim ang nominado sa mga kategoryang best actress, best supporting actor, at best supporting actress.
Tig-aapat ng nominadong artista ang Haplos sa Hangin, Pagdaong, Dreamboi, at Maria Azama.
Tigtatlo ng nominadong artista ang Salikmata at Ang Lihim ni Maria Makinang.
Wala man lang na-nominate sa mga artista ng Babae sa Butas.
Ang mga artistang nominees ng Haplos sa Hangin ay sina Martin del Rosario (best actor), Denise Esteban, Jorrybell Agoto, at Angelica Cervantes.
Ang mga artistang nominees ng Pagdaong ay sina Angela Morena (best actress), Ashley Lopez, Astrid Lee, at Chester Grecia.

INAUGURAL CINESILIP: A SUCCESS
Mixed emotions ang festival director ng CineSilip na si Ronald Arguelles sa awards night.
“Ang bilis ng mga pangyayari, indeed!” bulalas ni Ronald sa opening remarks niya sa programa.
“From the moment we called for entries last October 2024 to this very night, the journey has been a long one.
“We started as VMX Fest, but with a vision to be more inclusive and to nurture new filmmaking talents, we evolved into the CineSilip Film Festival.
“The road to this moment was not without its challenges. Sa lahat ng hirap throughout the year sa pagpili at paggawa ng mga pelikula, back and forth budgeting and approvals, we faced numerous obstacles, from classification ratings to technical and financial hardships.
“But we persevered, driven by our determination to showcase these incredible films and directors.
“And so, as we gather here tonight for the awarding ceremonies, I am grateful to celebrate your works, your people, and your brave voices. MARAMING-maraming salamat sa inyo…
“Mabuhay ang mga aktor! Mabuhay ang mga artista! Mabuhay ang mga Filmmakers ng 2025 CineSilip film Festival!”
