TAKE CARE OF SCREENERS

Kaugnay nito ay naglabas ako ng saloobin sa pamamagitan ng social media post: “Award-giving bodies should be active viewers of cinema — not passive recipients of screeners.

“If screeners are provided, safeguard them. Uploading copies is not just a mistake; it’s complicity in piracy. (Don’t lose them, we’ve gotten reports of lost screeners too.)

“Awards exist to honor and sustain the film industry. When we enable piracy, we’re not celebrating film — we’re killing it.”

Paalala ng Film Academy of the Philippines (FAP) na pinost sa Facebook nitong Abril 17, 2026, Biyernes: “The Academy reminds all award-giving bodies and organizations that receive screeners, that submitted files and links must be handled with care and accountability.

“Any unauthorized sharing, uploading, forwarding, or misuse is a criminal act and a serious breach of trust that harms producers, filmmakers, and the workers whose labor made the film possible.

“Any institution that receives a screener must be able to guarantee that the work is secure. Award-giving bodies should restrict access, and issue a written waiver stating that submitted films will be protected against misuse and piracy. Those who claim to support the film community must help protect its work.

“Our community depends on trust. Each of us is obligated to protect it, and be vigilant against those who exploit that trust. The Academy will use its resources and mandate to help pursue accountability and sanction violators of that trust…”

JOEY REYES CALLS FOR ACCOUNTABILITY AND RESPONSIBILITY

Ni-repost ni Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) Chairman Jose Javier Reyes ang reminder ng FAP.

Sabi pa niya: “ACCOUNTABILITY AND RESPONSIBILITY.

“Uploading screeners entrusted to groups or organizations under the assumption that these will be used for assessing films for annual awards is not only a violation of trust but liable for charges.”

GORGY RULA
