Noong nakaraang Abril ay nabalitaan naming magkakaroon ng sariling awards ang AKTOR-League of Filipino Actors ngayong taon.
Nang makita namin ang AKTOR President na si Iza Calzado noong Abril 19, 2026 sa lamay ni Sue Prado sa Loyola Memorial Chapels & Crematorium, Commonwealth Avenue, Quezon City, ay tikom ang bibig ng aktres tungkol dito.
Aniya, hindi siya puwedeng magsalita ng anuman.
Nakatsikahan muli namin si Iza sa memorandum of agreement ng AKTOR, Unilab, at Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors (SPEEd) para sa Health and Wellness program noong Hulyo 1, Miyerkules ng umaga, sa Bayanihan Center sa Pioneer Street, Brgy. Kapitolyo, Pasig City.

Inusisa namin si Iza kung ano ang bago sa AKTOR na puwede niyang ibahagi.
Tinanong muna ni Iza ang executive director ng AKTOR na si Joel Saracho kung puwede na niyang i-share ang balita. Umoo si Joel.
Pagsisiwalat ni Iza, “Kami po ay excited dahil we are doing our best to mount… we are mounting an awards ceremony, an AKTOR award.
“it’s in the works. And ano po, we will keep it as intimate and as you know, as community-led as possible.”
Gaganapin ito bago matapos ang 2026?
Napangiti si Iza, “Ideally, hopefully.”
Gusto ng Film Academy of the Philippines (FAP) na sila ang magtatapos ng movie awards season this year, kaya ang pagbabalik ng Luna o FAP Awards ay sa Disyembre gaganapin.
“Ay! Sa kanila po yun!” bulalas ni Iza.
“Siyempre, sa kanila po yun, oo. Iba naman, sa atin naman ay strictly for the community. Parang SAG [Screen Actors Guild] Awards, di ba?”
Ang SAG Awards ng Hollywood ay pinalitan na ng tawag. Ginawa na itong The Actor Awards.
Presented ito ng SAG-AFTRA. Ang ibig sabihin ng AFTRA ay American Federation of Television and Radio Artists.
Sabi pa ni Iza tungkol sa nalalapit na awards ceremony ng AKTOR: “Actors voting for their fellow actors. It’s really what we want to emphasize and highlight.
“So, para mas ma-feel mo rin yung, I guess, yung support ng people from the community itself.”

2026 AWARDS SEASON
Siyanga pala, ang movie awards season this year ay pasisimulan ng SPEEd with the 9th edition of The Eddys (Entertainment Editors’ Choice).
Gaganapin ito sa Hulyo 5, Linggo ng gabi, sa Ceremonial Hall ng Marriott Grand Ballroom, Newport World Resorts, Pasay City.
Iho-host ito nina Pops Fernandez at Kuya Kim Atienza.
Ang PMPC Star Awards for Movies ay tentatively set sa Setyembre, samantalang ang 50th Gawad Urian ay nakatakda sa Oktubre doon pa rin sa De La Salle University, Taft Avenue, Manila.
Wala pa kaming balita kung kailan ang 74th FAMAS Awards.

Anim na taon na ang AKTOR-League of Filipino Actors, at dumarami na ang members nito. Mahigit 400 na.
“Padami pa nang padami. I mean, dati nga, ilan lang kami, wala pang bente,” pagtatapat ni Iza.
“Nasa notes ko pa, noong minsan binalikan namin ni Dong [Dingdong Dantes], sabi ni Dong, ‘Grabe, no?! Sarap balikan nito.’
“Naka-notes lang kung ano ba yung itatawag namin sa grupo namin. As basic as that.
"Yung sino yung bumoto sa name na ito, sino yung bumoto sa name na ito. There were three options.
“I mean, it started really just hanging out. Via Zoom during the pandemic. In the thick of things.
“Ako, personally, hindi ko na-imagine na ito pala yung pupuntahan ng aming pag-uusap. Six years later.
“Ako, wala akong alam sa org work. So, hindi ko alam na ganito pala yung trabaho na kailangan.
“Pero ang saya din! Kasi parang ang sarap matuto, at lalung-lalo na ang sarap na makapagbigay ng sense of community, sense of protection to a certain degree, di ba?
“And to empower our members and each other. So ako, nae-empower ako by learning how to somehow lead an organization because I’m very, very new at this.
“Ako, I’m being empowered by being given this kind of leadership role. Na ni hindi ko naman ito naisip lalo na noong nagsisimula ako sa industriya, or even when we started this.
“Wala akong… may magiging presidente, may magiging chairman. Wala akong ganun. Inisip ko, mag-unite lang tayong lahat.
“So I’m being empowered by these things, and of course our community, our members, we are also helping them in enriching their growth and development.
“Not just as actors but also as human beings. Nagkaroon pa kami ng mga development workshop na funded by FAP.
“Of course, workshop for acting. Kasi mahalaga yan. Ano ba kami? Kami ay actors, hindi po ba?
“But we want to go beyond that. As you know, when you empower a human being, it goes kumbaga you’re empowering different facets of their being.
“So dito naman, we are helping them feel better and really supporting their well-being by partnerships like what we have now with Unilab.
“So sabi nga ni Dong, parang ito na iyung kumukumpleto sa puzzle, e, of our well-being support.”

AKTOR'S PARTNERSHIP WITH OTHER ORGANIZATIONS
Meron nang partnership ang AKTOR sa MindNation kaugnay sa mental health.
Ani Iza, nagpo-provide iyon sa members ng AKTOR ng access sa libreng therapy sessions.
“And hopefully of course we could extend it again industry-wide,” sambit ni Iza.
“Because we all need that level of support for our mental health, hindi po ba?”
May partnership din ang AKTOR sa Liberty Insurance at Hi-Precision Diagnostics.
“Nakakatuwa lang na andaming gustong makipag-partner sa AKTOR,” lahad ni Iza.
“So kami, mas mabibigyan namin ng magandang suporta ang aming mga miyembro.
“At iyon naman din talaga kumbaga ang from day one, we were led by this desire to protect and empower our members.”
Pati sa recent Mega Ball, naka-frontline ang members ng AKTOR kaya’t nakakatuwa na ramdam ng industriya ang lakas ng puwersa ng bawa’t sektor — basta’t sama-sama!

Naninindigan ang AKTOR-League of Filipino Actors sa mga importanteng usapin sa entertainment industry. Naglalabas sila ng official statement.
“Yes, always. And very carefully crafted!” bulalas ni Iza Calzado.
“Because you know, we are non-partisan. Ang pagdating sa pulitika, di ba? Pero pagdating sa industriya, siyempre kami talaga ay nandito.
“And we want to be a collected voice, a united voice, in doing and saying what we think is fair and right for our industry, for our community.”
AKTOR'S STAND ON ENDORSEMENTS
Nagiging problema ba sa AKTOR kung ang members ay may ineendorsong magkakaibang brand ng mga produkto?
“I think hindi naman siya malaking problema,” pagmamatwid ni Iza.
“I think we already knew that coming into this community na there will be conflicting brands that everybody will have.
“But we will always choose to make it work. Kumbaga, buti nga pinapirma ako ng Unilab, kasi meron din tayo with other pharmaceutical companies na buti naman, supportive din naman sa atin.
“At hindi naman nila bina-block. Kasi hindi ka naman naka-block out sa entire pharmaceutical company. So, maraming salamat po.”
Normally, naka-lock out ang endorser sa isang particular segment.
Paliwanag ni Iza: “Halimbawa, kung vitamins, or pain-relief, di ba? Iba’t ibang category. So I’m really glad, kasi the vision is really to help the community.
“The vision is to help our fellow Filipinos. So to help ourselves, to have better health. So self-care, community-care, care for the nation.
“Parang… salamat din at nagkakaintindihan naman. Yung mga conflict of interest ng bawat isa, meron din naman lagi at laging sasalo para to step up.”

IZA CALZADO'S CINEMALAYA FILM
May pelikula si Iza sa Cinemalaya 2026, ang Kamay ni Bathala (Hand of God) kasama sina Ruru Madrid at Ronnie Lazaro, sa panulat at direksiyon ni Mark Duane Angos.
Ang huling pelikula ni Iza sa Cinemalaya ay ang crime drama na Pandanggo sa Hukay (2019). Co-stars niya roon sina Mercedes Cabral, Charlie Dizon, Diva Montelaba, Ybes Bagadiong, Star Orjaliza, at Acey Aguilar.
