MTRCB summons It's Showtime over "racist" remark, "lugaw" scene

It's Showtime faces MTRCB hearing after Vice Ganda controversy.

Ipinatawag ng Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) ang mga producer ng It’s Showtime sa gitna ng mga reklamo ukol sa July 24, 2026 episode ng noontime show.

Diumano, merong "inappropriate" na eksena at "racially insensitive" at colorist na komento sa naturang episode.

“Ayon sa notice to appear, nakatanggap ang Ahensiya ng maraming ulat at reklamo mula sa mga concerned citizen tungkol sa episode at sa mga kilos at salita ng TV host at comedian na si Vice Ganda,” pahayag ng MTRCB nitong Martes, Hulyo 28, 2026.

“Inutusan ng MTRCB ang GMA Network Inc. at ABS-CBN Corporation bilang respondents na dumalo sa isang hearing ng MTRCB Hearing and Adjudication Committee. Ang hearing ay gaganapin sa 29 Hulyo 2026, Miyerkules, 10:30 am.

“Maaaring magpadala ng kinatawan o abogado ang mga respondent sa hearing. Bago o sa takdang araw ng hearing, dapat silang magpakita ng proof of authority na sila ang inatasang kinatawan ng mga respondent.

“Ayon sa mga natanggap na ulat at reklamo at sa isang ulat ng Monitoring and Inspection Unit (MIU) ng Ahensya, ang tinutukoy na insidente ay ang ‘Memerimar’ skit sa ‘Laro Laro Pick’ segment ng nasabing noontime show.

“Inireklamo ng mga concerned citizen ang diumano’y racist at colorist na pahayag ni Vice Ganda at ang ‘lugaw’ scene nina Vice Ganda at Ion Perez.

“Bago matapos ang 25 Hulyo 2026 episode ng It’s Showtime, humingi ng tawad si Vice Ganda para sa mga biro na kanilang sinabi sa nakaraang episode.

“Sabi ng MTRCB, nais malaman ng Ahensya kung ang It’s Showtime ay tumupad sa provisions ng Section 3(c) ng Presidential Decree No. 1986 na ipinagbabawal ang pagpapalabas ng TV programs na ‘contrary to law, good customs, public order, public morals, or are otherwise objectionable.’”

Dagdag ng MTRCB, ituturing nilang waiver ng karapatan na maghain ng ebidensiya kung hindi dadalo ang mga respondents at ireresolba ng Ahensiya ang isyu base sa mga records na kanilang hawak.

Tinanggap nila ang pagkakamali, kaya sila nagso-sorry.

Iba na ang closeness ng mga host at definitely walang nao-offend sa kanilang biruan. Masaya silang lahat sa mga bardagulan nila.

Wala sanang issue, kung hindi pinapalaki ng kung mam-bash naman ay wagas kung makapanlait.

Noong Biyernes, July 24, naka-5.1% ang It’s Showtime, at ang Eat Bulaga! ay 3%.

Noong Sabado, July 25, naka-5.6% ang It’s Showtime, at ang Eat Bulaga! ay 3.1%.
