“Pelikula: Ginintuang Ikalawa” ang tema ng Philippine Film Industry Month (PFIM) 2026 sa Setyembre.
Ipinagdiriwang dito ang ika-50 anibersaryo ng Second Golden Age of Philippine Cinema.
Opening film ang Tinimbang Ka Ngunit Kulang (1974) ni National Artist Lino Brocka. Ipapalabas ito sa Setyembre 4 sa Red Carpet Cinema ng Shangri-La Plaza, Mandaluyong City.
Sa event na ito ia-announce ng Film Academy of the Philippines (FAP) ang panlaban ng Pilipinas para sa best international feature ng 99th Academy Awards o Oscars.
FOCUS ON 1976 CLASSIC FILMS
Kabilang sa 1976 classic films na ipapalabas next month sa FDCP Cinematheque Centers nationwide ang Itim ni Mike de Leon, Insiang ni Lino Brocka, Tatlong Taong Walang Diyos ni Mario O’Hara, Minsa’y Isang Gamu-gamo ni Lupita Aquino-Kashiwahara, Ganito Kami Noon… Paano Kayo Ngayon? ni Eddie Romero, at Nunal sa Tubig ni Ishmael Bernal.
Ipe-present ng Philippine Film Archive (PAF) ang SineUna: Cinematic Action Before the War.
Iso-showcase doon din sa FDCP Cinematheque Centers next month ang Zamboanga (1937) ni Eduardo de Castro, Giliw Ko (1939) ni Carlos Vander Tolosa, Tunay na Ina (1939) at Pakiusap (1940) ni Octavio Silos, at Ibong Adarna (1940) ni Vicente Salumbides.
Sa Setyembre 9, ika-highlight sa monthly screening at talkback seties na Reel to Real: Pelikula at Panayam ang Jaguar (1979) ni Lino Brocka.
Sa Setyembre, naka-focus ang Director’s Series kay Jeffrey Jeturian.
Itatampok ang mga obra niyang Tuhog (2001) at Kubrador (2006).
Sa Setyembre 17 ang world premiere ng documentary film na Kodomo-tachi: Children of the War (2025) ni Mike Alcazaren. Ipapalabas ito sa Cinematheque Centre Manila.
Setyembre 19 naman ang screening doon din sa Cinematheque Centre Manila ng Olsen’s Day (2025) ni JP Habac.

FDCP’s special events in the various other locales of Intramuros continue with a screening co-presented by the Intramuros Administration of Ganito Kami Noon... Paano Kayo Ngayon? (1976) at the Teatro, Fort Santiago on September 11, 2026.
The National Commission for Culture and The Arts (NCCA) regularly co-presents Mga Hiyas ng Sineng Pilipino at the Metropolitan Theater.
The newly digitally-restored Sister Stella L (1984) makes its grand homecoming on September 20, 2026.
Cinematheque Centre Iloilo will present a special Pelikula ng Bayan featuring the Bantayan Film Festival's (BFF) Top 3 films from the past decade, from September 10-23, 2026.
As the country's longest-running regional film festival, BFF will spotlight the Guimbal iFilm Society's local and independent work of Guimbalanon filmmakers, reflecting the richness of their communities, cultures, and storytelling traditions.
DEVELOPING EMERGENT CINEMATIC VOICES
This year, FDCP introduces a brand new addition to its roster of film festivals: the PFIM Short Film Competition.
A collaboration with the Film Academy of the Philippines (FAP), the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), and the Quezon City Screen Commission (QCSC), this showcase of independent Filipino work aims to engage the creativity and ambition of local talent from September 11-23, 2026 at the Cinematheque Centres nationwide.
Sine Kabataan 2026 marks the youth film festival's ninth edition.
The competition remains an effective incubator for young filmmakers, providing support and mentoring as they realize their bold cinematic visions.
Ten new creative voices from across the country will make their debut at Red Carpet Cinemas, Shangri-La from September 18-20, 2026.

The Film Education Convention (FilmEc) also makes its grand return following its debut in 2024.
Bringing together film enthusiasts, professionals, and educators from across the nation, the convention will feature keynotes, workshops, and student film screenings that celebrate the shared love for cinema.
This year, FilmEc moves across the road to De La Salle University Manila from September 25-26, 2026.

Ang closing ceremony ng PFIM 2026 ay nakatakda sa Setyembre 30 sa Seda Vertis North, Quezon City. Gaganapin dito ang taunang Parangal.
Pagkakalooban ng Lifetime Achievement Award sina Vic del Rosario, Hilda Koronel, Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino, at critic and film scholar Tito Genova Valiente na pumanaw noong Agosto 22, Sabado.
Para sa Annual Achievement Award, honorees sina Ryan Machado, Jorrybell Agoto, Ruby Ruiz, at The Women of Enjoy Your Stay (2025) na sina Mercedes Cabral, Anna Luna, Irma Adlawan, Donna Cariaga, Madeleine Nicolas, at Hasmine Kilip.
The ceremony will also commemorate the efforts of the Quezon City Screen Commission (QCSC) in celebration of Quezon City's new status as a UNESCO Creative City of Film.
Ia-announce dito ang finalists sa Isapelikula program, a film incubator and match funding program where selected projects may receive production grants of up to 1,000,000 php.
