Hindi kami nagtaka na mas malakas sa Pinoy moviegoers ang supernatural horror movie na Insidious: Out of the Further kesa sa epic action fantasy film na The Odyssey.
DOMESTIC AND WORLDWIDE GROSS OF SPIDER-MAN AND THE ODYSSEY
PERO domestically and globally, pinakamalakas so far this year ang Spider-Man: Brand New Day, at pangalawa yung The Odyssey.
Nito ngang nakaraang weekend, Setyembre 4-6, ay No. 1 pa rin sa takilya ng North America ang Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
Six consecutive weekends nang topnotcher ang latest Spidey movie sa US at Canada.
Ayon sa Box Office Mojo, ang weekend gross nito noong nakaraang Sabado hanggang Linggo ay $18.2M, at pumaldo na sa $917.9M ang domestic gross nito.
Pumangalawa naman last weekend sa North America yung The Odyssey with $13.1M, at ang domestic gross nito ay umabot na sa $584.9M.
Pangatlo last weekend sa North America ang Coyote vs. Acme.
Pang-apat ang bagong bukas na By Any Means.
Panlima ang Insidious: Out of the Further with $6.5M, at ang domestic gross nito ay pumalo na sa $54.1M.
Opo! As of this writing, sa takilya ng North America this year — DOMESTIC — nananatiling No. 1 ang Spider-Man: Brand New Day, at No. 2 yung The Odyssey.
Yung Insidious: Out of the Further ay nasa ika-28 puwesto.

Ayon sa Cinema Exhibitors Association of the Philippines (CEAP), walong pelikula ang opening sa mga sinehan today, September 9, 2026.
Dalawa sa mga ito ay gawang-Pinoy — ang horror mystery na Poon (R-16) starring Jaclyn Jose and Ronaldo Valdez, at ang drama na Life After You (PG) starring Maricel Soriano and Bela Padilla.
Ang anim na foreign movies na nagbukas sa local cinemas today ay Cahim (R-13), Fall 2 (PG), Practical Magic 2 (PG), Run Baby Run (R-16) na exclusive sa Megaworld Cinemas, Detective Conan The Movie: Fallen Angels of the Highway (PG) na exclusive sa SM Cinema, at It Ends (R-13) na exclusive din sa SM Cinema.
POON AND LIFEA AFTER YOU RATINGS BY MTRCB
R-16 ang MTRCB rating sa Poon dahil sa “graphic but non-gratuitous depiction of horror, frightening scenes and gore, graphic but non-gratuitous depiction of violence and gore and non-graphic depiction of sexual activity.”
Maliban dito, ang “over-all theme and messages in the movie — sexual abuse, incest, false religious beliefs, implied suicide, murder, supernatural sequences” ay mas angkop sa mga nakakatandang manonood.
Nasa cast din ng Poon sina Gina Pareño, Janice de Belen, Lotlot de Leon, Ara Mina, Allen Dizon, JC de Vera, Kelvin Miranda, Will Ashley, Martin del Rosario, Althea Ablan, Bembol Roco, Jim Pebanco, at Joao Constancia.
PG ang Life After You dahil sa mga “mature themes and emotionally charged scenes involving family relationships, motherhood, responsibility and conflict” nito.
“Lagi naming pinapaalalahanan ang ating mga magulang na tingnan muna ang MTRCB ratings upang makasiguro na ang sine ay angkop sa edad at antas ng pag-intindi ng kanilang mga anak,” pahayag ni MTRCB Chair Lala Sotto.
Sabi pa ni Chair Lala, ang panonood ng pelikula ay hindi lamang bonding moment, kundi pagkakataon din para sa mga magulang na gabayan ang kanilang mga anak.
PHILIPPINE NATIONAL CINEMA DAY
Siyangapala, sa Setyembre 12, Sabado, ang kauna-unahang Philippine National Cinema Day, na handog ng CEAP at stakeholders ng movie industry.
Nauna nang nag-imbita for this sina Cris Villanueva, Jairus Aquino, at Bela Padilla.
Nag-remind din sina Luis Alandy, Elijah Canlas, Kakie, at Barbie Forteza.
Ipinabatid ng MTRCB na bilang suporta sa National Cinema Day sa Setyembre 12, suspendido sa araw na iyon ang complimentary ticket privilege ng MTRCB Deputy Cardholders at kanilang companions.

Tuluy-tuloy ang akdibidades at libreng film screenings kaugnay rito.
Bukas, Setyembre 10, Huwebes, ay libreng mapapanood sa FDCP Cinematheque Centre Manila sa Sta. Lucia St., Intramuros (katabi ng Baluarte de San Diego) ang mga pelikula ni Direk Jeffrey Jeturian na Kubrador (1:30 P.M.) at Tuhog (4:00 P.M.).
Bahagi ito ng FDCP Cinematheque Director Series.
