Nakatakda sa Disyembre 10, 2026 ang pagbabalik ng Luna Awards ng Film Academy of the Philippines (FAP).
Ibinalita ito ni FAP Director General Paolo Villaluna sa eksklusibong panayam ng PEP Troika sa Golden Screen Awards: Dekada Awards 2026 ng MMPress noong Oktubre 4, Linggo, sa MMFF Auditorium, MMDA Head Office, Pasig City.
“Ang rebooted Luna Awards ang last award-giving body before the Metro Manila Film Frstival,” pahayag ni Direk Paolo.
“And we hope, by tradition, it will be the capstone award every year.
“Very stringent ngayon yung process. It will be like the Academy Awards na electoral, peer review system.
“Ibig sabihin, lahat ng mga audiovisual workers can actually vote. Meron tayong portal being established right now for that. So, magkakaroon ng ganoong system.”
Bale dalawa ang dead years ng Luna Awards, at gagamitin daw ng FAP ang mga taon na yon upang i-recalibrate at i-fix ang Luna Awards.
“Magkakaroon ng bagong trophy design!” pagbabalita pa ni DG Paolo.
“We got a famous artist to do the trophy design and it’s going to be different.”
THE LUNA TROPHY
Mas mabigat daw ang tropeyo ng Luna Awards kesa sa tropeyo ng FAMAS? Ito raw ang pinakamabigat na tropeyo sa local movie industry?
“Mabigat din yung trophy ng FAMAS, pero anlaki-laki ng trophy ng Luna!” napangiting bulalas ni Direk Paolo.
“There’s going to be a redesigned trophy. Ang maganda dito, each trophy is different.
“It’s one design pero artisan yung paggawa. Individually hand-made siya, e.”
As of this writing ay wala pa raw venue kung saan gaganapin ang rebooted Luna Awards.
“Inaayos pa. Alam niyo naman pag gobyerno, bidding pa at lahat,” sambit ni Direk Paolo.
Tuluy-tuloy na ba this time ang Luna Awards?
“Ahhh I have two years left. So sana, matuluy-tuloy at sana, lahat ng programang na-institutionalize ng bagong Film Academy ay maituloy ng sunod na papalit sa atin.
“Including all our programs for workers. The grievances. The benefit. The welfare.”

LUNA AWARDS VOTING SYSTEM
Paano ang botohan sa rebooted Luna Awards ng Film Academy of the Philippines (FAP)?
“Three levels,” tugon ni FAP Director General Paolo Villaluna.
“May citation muna. We’ve preselected mga 25 organizations and personalities to do the citation, which will create the baseline for the nomination.
“And then pag may citers list na, gagawa ng nominations list ang mga guild. So guilds get to vote…
“Tapos after nominations level, all guilds and the Academy members will now vote for all categories.” Ilan nang guilds ang nasa ilalim ng FAP?
“Right now, as of last week, 33 guilds. We’re happy,” sagot ni Direk Paolo.
“Which means nagiging professional at nag-o-organize na ang mga sectoral representation.
“You have stuntmen, background actors. Of course, you know your directors, writers, DOPs. Now, you have entertainment journalists. You have film critics.
“As in ang ganda pag nagbuklud-buklod, nagiging professional per sector. That means they can represent their own rights and their own code of ethics, alam mo yun.
“Na puwede silang tulungan ngayon ng gobyerno kapag united and legally compliant sila as an organization.
“Yung 33 na yun, that’s just in Manila. We just did our Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao summit.
“So we kinda expect more coming from the regions.”

NATIONAL GUILD SUMMIT
Magkakaroon ng National Guild Summit sa Nobyembre 20 at 21 kaugnay sa 14th QCinema International Film Festival.
“Hundred eighty-five [185] industry and regional leaders will come together,” sabi ni FAP Director General Paolo Villaluna.
“Pag-uusapan na natin ang Code of Ethics. Ibig sabihin, may self-regulatory Code of Ethics na tayo as an industry.
“Kapag nag-away, ganito, saan unang gagawin? Alam mo yon, mga little ano lang, our simple principles in the industry.
“All industries have Code of Ethics, e. Tayo, we are going to formulate our own. It’s going to happen sa National Guild Summit.
“Apart from the Code of Ethics, gagawin din yung Professional Handbook natin. From development to post-production and exhibition, ano ba iyung proseso natin as an industry?
“Guidelines siya for everyone to know. So ayun, marami pang pag-uusapan sa National Guild Summit. AI [Artificial Intelligence], very important.
“We have to get ahead of AI talaga. We have to be able to learn how to address it.
“Kasi hindi puwedeng… pagdating na iyung AI, nagpa-panic-panic na tayo.
“November pa lang, pag-usapan na natin. Anong roadmap natin as an industry? How can we save our livelihood?
“At the same time, how can we respect and understand the new innovation? Paano ba natin magagamit ito for our good?
“So that will involve training, informing people kung ano ba talaga ang AI, stuff like that.”
Bago ang two-day National Guild Summit ay may pre-work na sa mga guild.
“Padadalhan namin sila ng Code of Ethics, AI rules, saka professional handbook,” lahad ni Direk Paolo.
“And then all workers will contribute and suggest, pagdagdag or bawas doon sa Code of Ethics.
“Another thing pala, napakaimportante na up for review next year ang Eddie Garcia Law.
“That means hindi puwedeng walang contribution ang industriya natin sa pag-review ng batas na yon.
“Kasi tayo yung affected, e. So we have to give them and supply the right data points and the right research.
“Was it good for the workers? Was it good for the industry? Did it help?
“Alam nyo, andaling sabihin, ‘Oo, oo,’ or ‘Hindi, hindi.’ But we have to be data-based. So yun, pag-uusapan iyon sa National Guild Summit.”
Tamang-tama na pagkatapos ng National Guild Summit sa Nobyembre 20 at 21, magbabalik na ang Luna Awards sa Disyembre 10!
