NOEL FERRER: Parang extended talaga ang celebration ng Valentine dates ngayong weekend, kasi mahahaba ang pila sa mga sinehan.
Remember the quote of FDCP Chair Liza Diño na na-quote natin sa first day ng showing ng Alone/Together nang sabihin niya ang mga elemento na dapat sa isang box-office hit movie?
Heto ang sagot ni Erik Matti sa tinuran ni Liza: “This is the kind of reasoning that gets us to the rut we are in. If you’re talking to someone who don’t get it, then I think I’d just better shut up.
“What a twisted kind of logic coming from someone who is tasked to nurture the development of cinema in our country.
“This is the height of cluelessness to use this film, which we all know was bound to be a monster hit, as an example to other filmmakers who are merely aspiring to get their films, big or small, to cinemas nationwide with or without bankable stars and viable genres.
“The tone of this post by our FDCP chair puts the blame on everyone else who couldn’t make a film without a huge marketing machinery backing them and some big saleable stars.
“If this is true then we don’t need any more development in cinema. We just either make a movie with a bankable star or if we can’t get one, retire or teach.
“The past months I swore to be quiet in social media and be positive no matter how crazy this country has become. But this is just unacceptable and must not be allowed to pass.
“Her post is an insult to all the Filipino filmmakers. I leave this here.
“DISCLAIMER: Alone/Together is the exception to the problems plaguing the industry. This is embarrassing to be explaining this here because not once did I think event movies like these is what’s part of the concerns I raised a few days ago.
“But I’ll explain it anyway as simple as I can so that the narrative is not switched to me insulting films like Alone/Together.
“This is not about Alone/Together. I am happy for this first big hit in 2019. Congratulations to everyone involved.”

Sabi ni Ms. Liza, “Siguro, I just clarified on Facebook some of the concerns niya, di ba?
“Sa mga Philippine Night na ginagawa namin in other countries. Tapos, yung mga forum na sina-suggest niya na dapat na ginagawa.
“Actually, I just clarified that… this is an ongoing thing. Marami kaming ginagawang mga meeting. It’s not that easy talaga.
“Hindi naman nakukuha sa isang meeting yan. And hindi naman, lahat available lagi, and we don’t stop. Baka lang hindi niya alam.
“I just clarified intentionally then post it on Facebook for people to know na even we have limitations naman, we find ways to connect to the people na makatulong sa amin na makagawa ng mga batas na makakatulong sa industriya natin.”
Pero hindi na siguro dapat ikabit iyun sa box office success ng Alone/Together.
Doon na lang ako sa pananaw ni Direk Joey Reyes na tanggapin na lang kung ano man ang kahihinatnan ng pelikula natin.
Hindi kasi natin talaga mapulsuhan kung ano ang gustong panoorin ng mga tao.
Bahala na nga, sabi ni Direk Joey, kung paano nila tatanggapin ang pelikula mo.
Gawin na lang siguro natin kung ano ang makakaya nating gawin.
Wala na tayong magagawa kung alin ang gustong gastusan ng mga tao, kasi ang mahal na talaga ng ticket sa sinehan.
