May kasabihan na "in showbiz, there are no accidents."

HOW IT ALL STARTED FOR JENNIFER

"I was discovered at age 7 in a VTR, pero hindi ako ang for VTR talaga. It was my classmate and invited lang kami ni Mommy to watch her VTR for a TV commercial [TVC] for Jack & Jill Fun snacks."

Patuloy ni Jennifer: "I remember the cameraman calling me to go in front of the camera din after my friend, kasi uma-acting-acting din ako behind the camera and hindi ako nahiya or natakot.

"Napansin pala ng cameraman yun. I wasn’t shy at all and was at home in that set with the big lights, camera, and someone directing me to act.

"So, I just happily acted in front of the camera, and ayun, I ended up being chosen for that TVC.

“It still amazes me to this day how God hand-picked me to be part of that TV commercial that started everything!"

from commercials to movies

"Jing Abalos, who lived in the same village, met my parents and learned about me. He asked if I’d like to try acting in movies, and I agreed with the consent of my parents.

"My first movie was Salvage. I was an extra. I was one of the kids crying in the wake of our father. I don’t know how I did it.

“First crying scene ever with no workshop. Basta sinabi ng director [Joseph Villamor], isipin daw namin na father namin yung nasa empty casket.... then he shouted, 'Iyak!'

"After Tito Robbie handpicked me for the role of young Lorna Tolentino in Ina, Kasusuklaman Ba Kita?, he offered us a build-up contract as a Seiko Jewel na child actress until I became a teenager.

"I was chosen by Newtex to be their endorser for their Dalaga Ka Na campaign. And I also auditioned live on TV for That’s Entertainment."

Jennifer was cast as a girl on the verge of womanhood in the TV commercial of the Kimberly-Clark entry level feminine napkin Newtex in 1987. The same year, Jennifer passed the audition to be part of German Moreno's teen-oriented show

Kuwento ni Jennifer: "Seiko Films paired me with Romnick as a loveteam. We were also launched on the same day in That’s Entertainment sa Friday Group.

"Later on, nag-shuffle na ng days kaya naging Thursday Group ako and Wednesday si Romnick.

"Our loveteam was launched in the movie Huwag Mong Buhayin Ang Bangkay (1987), followed by Leroy Leroy Sinta (1988), Guhit Ng Palad (1988), Naughty Boys (1990), Tukso Layuan Mo Ako (1991), and Eh, Kasi Bata (1991).

"Later on, Seiko Films got Sheryl and naisip nila na i-try ang love triangle naming tatlo.

"We remained good friends. Sa roles in movies lang ang rivalry and nag-aaway ang mga fans namin sa love triangle with Romnick.

"Pero kami ni She, friends na kami before pa because we first worked together as child stars sa Mga Kwento Ni Lola Basyang. That was long before kami mag-That’s Entertainment and Seiko Films.

"She was sweet, nice, and kind kahit noong bata pa kami."

JENNIFER ON WORKING WITH THE BEST DIRECTORS

"It really made me think back and fully appreciate how God blessed me and carved my path since childhood.

"I will always be grateful, in awe, kilig, and honored na makatrabaho ang mga mahuhusay at respetadong mga directors mula nung child actress pa ako. I already felt at home with TV commercials and movie sets.

"The working set seemed like an extension of my school, where I learned, played a lot, and met many people. It was always fun and exciting. And magkakaiba sila, pero may strictness and discipline talaga.

ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW ↓

"They set high standards, and everyone working on their set also adhered to them with professionalism and resilience. They had the balance of putting actors at ease and get their best performances.

"As the years went by, I had a greater appreciation for the directors I’ve worked with. It still feels surreal and inspiring to be chosen by them among many other child and young actresses and matuto sa kanila.

"My papa and mommy taught me a valuable lesson, and most of the directors taught me that, too: ‘It’s not about how long or short your role is, but how you portray it the best possible and most believable way matters more. You can leave a mark.’

"I took acting seriously and enjoyed every role and project. Learned so much from all of them in honing and appreciating my craft, acting techniques, and its technicalities, alongside co-actors and crew members.

"On a personal note, I treasured stories and nuggets of wisdom from them that are not work-related and can be applied in daily life.

"They have been real motivators for me to pursue acting and solidified my dreams and passion as an actress and artist. Knowing that someone believes in you and entrusts you with a role meant a lot.

"Having established directors to work with harnessed talents and skills, which I was also surprised to discover in myself.

"It was always an honorable experience for each project that you were part of, something significant from which people can learn from or be entertained.

"I also had insecurities and self-doubts, especially as a teenager, but the directors I worked with believed in me, saw my potential, even as a little Jenny or teen Jenny.

ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW ↓

"They encouraged me to grow and try new things, work harder, and have a healthy self-confidence.

"They inspired me, pushed my creative boundaries, taught me professionalism and discipline to hone and deeply love my craft.

"They also taught me the importance of researching about my role and preparedness when I come to the set.

"Parang schooling din like working with the best professors and mentors, but what we produced were real work na and were documented as film or TV shows.

"I had much love and passion for our craft and deep respect for our directors, writers, co-stars, producers, and everyone I was working with sa set.

"I would also like to add other directors like Ramon Revilla Sr., Rory Quintos, Bb. Joyce Bernal, Lupita Kashiwahara, Jeffrey Jeturian, and more.

"I want to hug and thank them all too from the bottom of my heart."

Unforgettable experience with legendary directors

"In the movie Kaya Kong Abutin Ang Langit with Direk Maryo J. delos Reyes, I was already into drama and dialogues at that time. Pero the role was more challenging because of the swimming requirement, as the young Arlene Muhlach na frail and inaapi.

"Ang hardest scene ko sa film was nasa gilid kami ng swimming pool and itinulak ako ng young Maricel Soriano.

"I needed to fall, look like I did not know how to swim, and act nalulunod.

"So nakaka-tense pala yun. I enjoyed it naman, wala naman akong takot sa water. Pero nakakanerbyos din pala and lalo na for my mommy na kasama ko sa shooting.

"The thing was, I really knew how to swim, pero may technical aspects like tamang timing, should look real, and tamang babagsakan ko para sa closer camera shots.

"Hindi naman pwedeng maraming takes or paulit-ulit kasi need pa ipa-dry ang hair ko and yung ka-double ng dress ko.

"So I found it challenging. Plus, mahirap umarte na nalulunod. It can be unsafe din and more, yung marunong ako mag-swim but have to look like hindi.

"It went well. Ang pag-ulit lang were for camera angles needed. Successful naman. Happy si Direk Maryo with the result and I was safe naman.

"Another unforgettable experience was working with Direk Maning Borlaza in Puso Sa Puso.

"I was 14 that time and kainitan ng love triangle namin nina Romnick Sarmenta and Sheryl Cruz.

"Ang role ko was a super simple, soft-spoken teenager na naglalabada para makatulong sa magulang. Laging naka-duster dress at hindi nakaayos.

"I remember how much I learned from Direk Maning. From shooting every scene, bantay talaga niya 'ko sa acting, dialogue, and my facial expressions.

"But the harder part was the delivery of the dialogue. Hanggang sa voice dubbing namin nung movie, para ko siyang teacher and acting coach talaga. Nakabantay siya at may mga techniques to correct my way of speaking.

"Ang simple kasi ng character ko, pero I wasn’t aware na malakas pala ang tinawag niya na 'kolehiyala way' of speaking ko, tone and pronunciation of Tagalog words. Ang daming practices, corrections, and naging more aware ako.

"It also helped me to be more particular sa physical aspect and transformation of my characters. I started to love and value voice acting in every role simula noon."

working with legendary actors and actresses

"It still feels surreal. Hindi pa rin ako makapaniwala at starstruck, kilig, and honored to just even share space and moments with them, and even more so, work with them.

"I think back at how and why God made it possible, all those once-in-a-lifetime experiences to meet, work, and get to know some of them personally.

"Why me? Kaya lalo kong minahal at pinahalagahan ang pagiging aktres, host, model, at performer ko. It is one of my life purposes, indeed.

"As a child, napapanood ko lang sila dati sa TV or movies at hinahangaan, ginagaya mag-dialogue.

ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW ↓

"From the Golden Age of Philippines cinema, I used to watch them on TV in black and white movies. Mommy and Papa told me so much about them.

"Lalo pa sila nakakahanga na makasama at makausap bilang mga normal din na mga tao kahit mga super at mga greatest sila.

"I’d also like to add Charito Solis, Ms. Rita Gomez, Tita Gloria Sevilla, recently Kuya Ricky Davao, and Ninong Kuya Germs na father ko sa industriya.

"Ang saya nila kasama sa set. No dull moments. Laging may mga magagandang kuwento, pag-share ng wisdom, and life experiences nila. And they also love to learn kahit mga icons or 'super' na sila.

"Pero 'pag time for work, they can easily switch to being serious, focused, and deliver brilliant performances. Nakakatulala kung gaano sila kagagaling.

"Palagi silang on time at prepared sa mga scenes nila, organized at complete ang mga gamit nila. Masayahin sila, pero serious sa bawat eksena.

"'Pag roll ng camera, sila na ang character nila. Naka-support sila sa amin na young and new ones.

"They had unparalleled professionalism, discipline, God-given and learned talents, skills, resilience, dedication, true star charisma, unique physical attributes, and kindness in dealing with others.

"But they were not bossy to us, the young actors. However, their presence on the set commands respect and professionalism, too.

"They were generous to share their time, wealth of experiences, knowledge, and taught us by example.

"No wonder, they had staying power and stood out brightly in a sea of other talented people from different ages.

"Speaking of generosity, I remember Tita Pilita Corrales welcoming me to her home and walk-in closet when she lent me her sparkling show outfit and accessories para authentic ang look ko as her in a winning production number namin ng Thursday Group in That’s Entertainment Anniversary Show Competition in Araneta Coliseum.

"I will forever be grateful for knowing them all and even if I was a nobody, they treated and embraced me in our big showbiz family.

"They showed love, compassion, kindness, respect, and lots of encouragement in the industry, to our audiences and fans that we so love.

"Lahat sila have humility and deep gratitude even if they were already legends and their successes in life, plus their careers were all worthy of national and international recognition."

Jennifer: wife, mom and successful businesswoman

"By God’s grace, we’ll be 18 years married this November. I am a hands-on mom and work for our businesses while taking care of our family and home.

"It is indeed a huge blessing filled with immense joy, growth, and honor to be chosen by God to be a wife to my husband and mom to our two boys.

"And now that I am also a parent, I understand and appreciate my parents all the more."

"I don’t think our kids know or grasp yet the depth and scale ng work portfolio ko as an actress and performer, since childstar and teenstar days, 'til now.

"But they know that I am a celebrity. They would watch snippets of my movies and shows online. They are proud of mom, daw.

"They understand more na why people come up to me, strangers pa and ask for photos to be taken with them here and abroad. And they smile when they see that people get happy when they meet me.

"Before, sobrang puzzled daw sila why ganun ang attention and reactions of even strangers when they meet me or recognize me. It’s an ongoing bonding namin.

"I tell them stories and share with them mga photos and unforgettable experiences, projects, and people in our industry.

"They are eager and happy to find out more each time."

Bukas pa rin naman daw siya to accept acting projects on TV and film. Pero pumapangatlo na raw ito after her family and business.

"My love for acting is always there. It is my personal decision and dedication to prioritize our family, work for our businesses, and do acting every now and then.

"My husband is so supportive sa akin, especially sa acting, in what I love or want to do.

"He likes seeing me happy when I work or meet with my friends and colleagues. If I do more acting jobs again, my family will be my cheerers.

"So blessed that they are always supportive and loving. Me naman, I’ve devoted so much of myself and time to my acting career since childhood pa.

"So, when I got married and we had our boys, it shifted my priorities and I gave my full commitment to being there for my husband and kids.

"So thankful for my husband and above all, God’s guidance and provision for our family, kaya rin I am able to fulfill my role as a full-time mom.

"For now, ganyan muna, acting from time to time pa rin. I am really thankful for the trust. I always get acting job offers pa rin. Grateful ako. And hopefully, magandang timing ulit."

Very popular sa showbiz people ang mga hair products niya dahil ginagamit ito sa mga pelikula, teleserye, at pati sa entablado. Marami rin silang celebrity clients.

"We’re blessed with all our old and new clients over the years and our devoted staff.

"That’s so nice to know na Lynelle is top of mind sa wigs and hair extensions. It will be our 18th year this October 2025. We have exciting updates in the coming months.

"My husband and I built our own brands. Lynelle Hair Fashion is the one-stop shop for hair. May physical and online stores that carry hundreds of products.

"Lynelle is our in-house brand for wigs and other hair products, and Keira for our Human Hair Extensions.

"Yes, I am hands on sa business and I work with my husband.

"In line with this, personally, I find Lynelle Hair fulfilling because when I see wonderful characters and performances come to life when our wigs, hair extensions and other products are worn by my fellow actors, performers, and clients everywhere, it’s like there’s a tiny part of me, of us in there.

"Hindi man ako portraying roles as much as I used to, our hair babies take part in so many productions and works of art.

"It’s also a way for me to stay in touch with people and friends from our industry."

"I really love hair. Since I was a child actress and especially during my teen years, I was always fascinated by hair and its transformative powers.

"I tried and enjoyed many hairstyles from pixie cuts, mid-length to long hair. Different hairstyles and cuts were always part of my character’s physical transformations, too.

"So when I got into the business of hair, it was so exciting, interesting, fulfilling, and fun.

"It started in 2004. I was bringing my own wigs and hairpieces to tapings. I got them from Mannequin Incorporated, a business of my husband (then fiancé). I was learning the business na rin. We had wigs for the mannequins we sell to our clients, like designers and stores.

“I was bringing curly wigs to my tapings, which I loved for quick hair changes. It was so convenient for me and our hairstylist because we didn’t have to set my hair with rollers, wait, and style, then undo and do the process again if may ibang scenes with normal hair.

"I was even getting more rest and this quick hair change helped the hairstylist have lesser load kasi ilalagay lang namin ang wig, in minutes, I’m ready na.

"My co-actors and production team took notice. They started ordering and I brought extra wigs in my car.

ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW ↓

"Word spread around, so I got more orders. Dala ko sila lagi sa car kasama ng pang-taping stuff ko.

"So I thought of adding more styles, colors, and lengths. We also started having new products like hair extensions that were unheard of before, too.

"Some clients were from comedy bars, impersonators, more hairstylists, makeup artists, productions, and celebs.

"We were also inspired by hair specialty shops abroad that were lacking here in the Philippines.”

In 2007, Lynelle Hair Fashion opened in V-Mall Greenhills. It’s a one-stop shop for different kinds of wigs, hair extensions, and hairpieces.

"It’s really a happy place where everyone spend their time with lots of smiles and laughs with the instant hair and look transformations while wearing our hair. It’s like a candy store daw for hairstylists and hair enthusiasts.”

ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW ↓

"It was exciting yet challenging when we opened our first store in Greenhills.

"The concept was new for shoppers. Wigs, hair extensions, and other hair fashion products were usually bought in shops abroad.

"But to see a one-stop shop full of wigs and hair was a shock to many during those days. We tried many ways of spreading the word about our new shop.

"It was also hard to break the people’s notion that wigs were only for those getting bald or the elderly, or you’d look like a 'bunot.'

"I could not count how many product demos we did in our stores, joined events, found ways to introduce our store, and gladly accepted interviews in shows and magazines.

"Finding and marketing new products to launch were also part of our constant learning. Trial and error, hits and misses din siya in choosing products, their quantities and colors since we also serve clients in need of natural-looking wigs or hair, not just for models, celebs, and production teams.

ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW ↓

“We researched and invested in new products, but not all were hits din. We kept trying and learning along the way."

"We’ve always had regular clients over the years na drag queens, impersonators, stage and theater performers. They love our wigs, hair extensions, and other hair items.

"Marami na sila years ago, and we’ve been supporting their events. Now, mas marami and they are more visible in venues, on TV, and on social media. And they’re so creative in creating and re-creating amazing looks.

"We thank them, also hair professionals, hairstylists, celebs, non-showbiz, and all our other clients who post, repost, and refer us to others."

To expand their businesses ang isa sa gustong ma-achieve pa ni Jennifer at ng kanyang mister in the years to come. Puwede rin daw silang makaisip ng iba pang negosyo in the future.

ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW ↓

"There needs to be constant learning, evolving, growing, trying, and adapting to changes and improvements sa business.

"My husband and I are always looking for what’s new, what’s next, how can we get better in the different facets of our business and products. We always have our clients in mind and how to serve their hair needs well.

"Definitely thriving and recalibrating. We dream of expanding and diversifying further after recovering from being hit by the pandemic.

"During those years of lockdowns and uncertainties, we faced challenges and had to close shops we’ve worked hard to build for years with our staff members, some of whom we had to let go with heavy hearts. But we retained one store, our flagship store, the one in V-Mall Greenhills.

“We strengthened and focused on our online stores. By God’s grace and provision, our business survived.

"We are thankful to our loyal and supportive clients who have been with us for years and keep on recommending us to their family, friends, and others. We are inspired by them. Excited for new things and concepts for our 18th year this October 2025.
