Fourteen years after South Korean actor Song Joong Ki howled his way into global pop culture through the top grosser A Werewolf Boy, a new generation meets the human-wolf figure through Rabin Angeles.
Today, January 14, 2026, audiences finally get to see Rabin’s interpretation of the beloved character as the Philippine adaptation of A Werewolf Boy opens in cinemas.
For many viewers, this marks his most demanding role yet.
For others, it’s the perfect moment to ask the obvious question: who exactly is Rabin Angeles beyond the claws and cinematic myth?

EARLY LIFE
Full Name, Nicknames
Born Rabin Josh Macarayo Angeles, the 21-year-old actor is known simply as Rab or RJ among friends and those closest to him.
His leading lady and frequent co-star Angela Muji has her own off-camera nickname for him, quipping, “Baby, kung walang camera.”
Birthday and Age
Rabin was born on November 14, 2004, making him just 21 at the time of the release of A Werewolf Boy.

Hometown
He is a proud native of Pampanga, the Culinary Capital of the Philippines, and has never truly left it behind.
He grew up and was raised there, only relocating when work demanded it.
These days, he considers New Manila his home base, largely for proximity to shooting locations.

Family
Family has always been central to his life. Rabin was raised by his mother alongside two older brothers, who are now 27 and 23 years old.
The family patriarch passed away when he was just four years old.

Today’s demanding schedule takes him back to a time when togetherness wasn’t optional but required.
“Kailangan sabay-sabay kami kumakain. Dati nga sa isang kuwarto lang kaming sama-sama. Simpleng pamumuhay,” he reveals.
Growing up with two brothers meant a childhood filled with noise, mischief, and motion.
From basketball games to biking, motor rides, and long hours simply standing around their neighborhood streets, Rabin describes a boyhood fueled by movement and collective chaos.

“Lahat na yata ng kalokohan nagagawa namin basta sama-sama kami. Iba-iba talaga yung hangout namin.” He clarifies, “Dati ha? Ngayon, hindi na masyado. Puro work, e.”
Completing the family is Zeus, their American Bully, whom Angeles proudly claims as one of his own.
EDUCATION
Rabin stayed close to home for his schooling, attending Holy Angel University in Pampanga for high school. He completed his studies up to junior high school before stepping away to work full-time.
“Hanggang grade 10 lang, tapos nag-stop na ako to work,” he tells PEP in the exclusive interview.

Despite his early exit from formal education, he hasn’t abandoned academic dreams altogether. He confesses that he still hopes to pursue higher studies once his schedule allows.
“Gusto ko pa rin mag-doctor para matupad ko ang pangarap ng nanay,” he says, smiling at the weight of that ambition.

CAREER
Rabin’s official showbiz entry came in 2023 after signing with Viva Artists Agency.
His debut projects included the boys’ love series The Day I Loved You and the action-fantasy film Penduko.

His breakout moment came with his portrayal of Yuri Hanamitchi, the Filipino-Japanese second lead in the Ang Mutya ng Section E on Viva One.
The role introduced him to a broader audience and quickly showcased his potential as a leading man.

In 2025, he starred opposite Angela Muji as Drake Palma in Seducing Drake Palma, further solidifying their on-screen partnership.
That chemistry now carries over into A Werewolf Boy.
The original Korean film remains a cultural landmark, having shattered box office expectations in 2012.
It debuted at number one, surpassed 4 million admissions within weeks, and ultimately became the third highest-grossing Korean film of that year.
Rabin admits he approached the adaptation with both respect and restraint.
“Fan ako ni Song Joong Ki,” he says. “Pero hindi ko pinanood yung full movie para hindi ko siya gayahing buo.”
Instead, he studied select clips to understand the character’s emotional language without replicating the original performance beat for beat.

Outside acting
Beyond the screen, Rabin has expanded his presence in lifestyle and commercial ventures.
In 2025, he became part of campaigns for The Green Flavonoid skin-care line by The Lab by Blanc Doux, distributed locally by Viva Beauty, and endorsed Yogorino, the international dessert brand.
That same year, he launched his own fragrance line, Bin Perfume, on April 23.
He was also named the first Filipino endorser of the restaurant Botejyu, announced on June 17, 2025.
Asked about venturing into music, he laughs before answering PEP with all honesty: “Gagawin ko, pero, hindi ko maipapangako. Hindi po ako singer.”

PERSONAL LIFE
Financial Habits
Since he started earning, Rabin noticed how his relationship with money was influenced by years of having very little.
“Malaki pinagbago kasi dati, wala ka naman talagang gagastusin kasi wala ka talagang pera. As in wala. Sanay ako na wala,” he admits.
His indulgence, he admits, is food, especially when it means feeding the people around him.

At 21, he still finds himself startled by adulthood. He is already paying off his own car and condo.
“Sobrang feeling ko matanda na ako tapos mare-realize ko bigla, ‘Ay, twenty-one pa lang pala ako.’”
He adds that being able to help with household expenses fulfills his long-held dream of supporting his mother: “Yung expenses nila mommy sa bahay, minsan, nagbibigay din ako.
“Nakakatuwa rin kasi yun yung pangarap ko na matulungan na si mommy, at nagagawa ko na siya ngayong kahit papaano.”
The first thing he bought with his earnings? A digicam.
“Bumili ako ng digicam, tapos nasira. Sobrang sama ng loob ko. Bago ko lang yun binili,” he pauses mid-answer as if to recall, “Oo nga no, parang kailan lang ako gumagastos para sa sarili ko.”
Relationship with Angela Muji
Across three projects, Rabin and Angela Muji have developed a bond that garnered quite a supportive fandom.
Both share similar love languages, particularly physical touch and gift-giving.
Angela treasures a guitar and tumbler from Rabin, while he holds onto simpler tokens from her: vitamins and a scented candle.
Small gestures, perhaps, but fitting for an actor whose off-screen life remains grounded even as his career continues to grow teeth.
They have yet to confirm the exact status of their relationship.
