Filipino horror cinema is not complete without Shake, Rattle and Roll, a monumental anthology series that has a rich legacy of bringing Pinoy monsters onto the silver screen.
Since 1984, the Regal Entertainment series has produced some of the most memorable horror stories and creepy characters that have given nightmares to every generation.
Who can forget the human-eating refrigerator from the first Shake, Rattle & Roll? Or the eerie "Ang Telebisyon" episode from the sixth movie, which features a TV that kidnaps children?
How about Marian Rivera’s fierce monster slayer character in the 10th film?
A new Shake, Rattle & Roll movie is coming this holiday season.
Subtitled Evil Origins, the new flick will present three terrifying tales of evil across time and history.
The question is this: will Shake, Rattle & Roll Evil Origins give us new iconic characters?

Shake, Rattle & Roll: Evil Origins 1775 CAST
In 1775, nuns have to survive the night after an unknown evil gets set free inside their isolated cloister.
The episode, set during the Spanish colonial period, is directed by Shugo Praico and features an all-female cast
Loisa Andalio
Loisa plays Flor, the youngest daughter of an abusive Spanish official and a Mexican noblewoman.
After facing conflict due to a forbidden love, Flor runs to the convent to find her sister Clara.
Carla Abellana
Clara regularly sees prophetic visions that bring her comfort.
Later on, the visions become dark and terrifying.
Can she discover what they mean?
1775 is Carla’s third Shake, Rattle & Roll episode after "Punerarya" in the 12th installment and "Ulam" in the 15th installment.
Ashley Ortega
Ashley plays Salve, a guarded young woman who entered the cloister while nursing a deep pain in her heart.
She has spent most of her life being cast aside, because she was a product of a forbidden relationship.
Ysabel Ortega
Ysabel plays Rita, another young nun.
She lost her father early and grew up under a strict and religious mother.
Elijah Alejo
As Ana, the overlooked daughter of a wealthy Spanish landowner, she joined the convent as a sweet and innocent young woman who is eager to belong.
JANICE DE BELEN
All the young nuns are under Madre Juana, the religious order’s Mother Superior.
Portrayed by Janice, Madre Juana controls the group with fear, strict discipline, and demands of blind obedience.
Arlene Muhlach
The convent’s prioress and spiritual formator is Madre Josefa, played by Arlene.
She might appear strict, but she is actually deeply compassionate.
Ara Mina
Ara is the procurator of the beaterio. Even though she already joined the religious order, she still craves her previous life of wealth and beauty.

Shake, Rattle & Roll: Evil Origins 2025 cast
The second episode of Shake, Rattle & Roll: Evil Origins is set in the present day.
Titled "2025,' it tells the story of a group of friends who attend a Halloween masquerade ball that turns bloody after a serial killer shows up.
Joey de Guzman is the director of this episode.
It is his second Shake, Rattle & Roll project; he also helmed the "Rage" part of Shake, Rattle & Roll Extreme, shown in 2023.
FRANCINE DIAZ
The FranSeth loveteam leads "2025."
Francine plays Faye, the only child of struggling caterers. She is disappointed after she is forced to put her college plans on hold.
A petty thief, she joins the masquerade ball to live a life of luxury, even for just a moment.
SETH FEDELIN
Seth portrays Sean, the illegitimate son of the town’s governor.
Despite his confident and charismatic exterior, he conceals a deep loneliness by indulging in privilege, social events, and fleeting relationships.
JM Ibarra
Also in the cast is the JMFyang loveteam of JM Ibarra and Fyang Smith, from Pinoy Big Brother Gen 11.
This is their first movie together. JM, fresh from receiving accolades for his Cinemalaya flick Child No. 82, portrays James in "2025."
James is a typical college student who loves anime, manga and video games. He is a victim of bullying.
Fyang Smith
Fyang, meanwhile, plays Elle, a talented college student who is also a rising young DJ.
She is in the masquerade ball to be in charge of the night’s music.
Sassa Gurl
Faye’s adoptive sibling is Sky, played by Sassa.
She is also a petty thief, and will do anything to help her sister and best friend.
Dylan Yturralde
Dylan also hails from Pinoy Big Brother Gen 11.
The former housemate now plays Marco, who is also born from privilege like Sean.
But unlike Sean, he is principled and protects his friends from bullies.
Althea Ablan
Playing Marco’s younger sister Pia is Althea.
She is caring, sweet, and carries a quiet strength.
Arkin Lagman
Arkin is Ice, the gym rat of the group.
He is always camera-ready, so he might come off as shallow, but he is a fiercely loyal friend to Sean.
Karina Bautista
Karina plays Callie, who is close friends with the bullies Sean and Ice, and she has a fascination for the supernatural.
Alex Calleja
Malena's husband is Bano.
The husband-and-wife tandem serves as caterers to the masquerade ball.
Manilyn Reynes
Rounding up the cast of 2025 is Manilyn, who plays Malena, Faye's mom.

The last episode of Shake, Rattle & Roll Evil Origins is "2050."
Set in the future, it tells the story of a desolate future where modern aswangs rule a post-apocalytic Philippines.
Ian Loreños, director of several Kapamilya shows like Incognito and The Iron Heart, is in charge of the episode.
Now in the year 2050, she is forced to confront the past when she sees a relic from the tragedy.
Richard Gutierrez
Richard plays Rosdan, an orphan who was raised by Malena.
He is the head of a self-sustaining community that fights the modern aswangs.
Ivana Alawi
Ivana plays Edris, a young woman whose parents were connected to the masquerade ball massacre.
She wants to investigate what really happened so she can help the survivors.

Dustin Yu
The younger brother of Rosdan is Riel, the character of Dustin.
Riel trains religiously to become a good aswang hunter.
This is Dustin’s second Shake, Rattle & Roll appearance. He was a part of the "Rage" episode in 2023’s Shake, Rattle & Roll Extreme.
Matt Lozano
Matt is Dong, Rosdan’s best friend and right-hand man.
He is skilled in using weapons and fighting monsters.
Celyn David
The newcomer plays Drea, Dong’s sister.
She takes care of the community’s daily tasks, like cooking and cleaning.
She also tends to Malena’s needs.
