Fresh from the success of his critically acclaimed indie film Mga Pusang Gala (2005), Ricky Davao flew to New York, U.S.A., to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award from Fanclubx.com, an organization of young Filipino-American actors and filmmakers.
The 44-year-old actor was the first to wonder why he was getting an award usually given to senior citizens. Ricky recalls, "Sabi nila, kasi daw, I inspire them. Tiningnan daw nila ang aking body of work and nagustuhan nila. Siyempre, nakakatuwa, di ba?"
In the movie, Ricky is cast as Boyet, a homosexual who accommodates stray cats
(and even stray humans) in his apartment complex.
