Korina Sanchez and Piolo Pascual join other ABS-CBN stars set to top-bill shows that will air on TV5.
This is according to a report by ABS-CBN News today, September 14, 2020.
The report said these TV shows are blocktimers, which will be produced by Brightlight Productions—an entertainment company owned by former congressman Albee Benitez.
Brightlight's line-up of shows was announced through a letter to advertisers.
Korina's magazine program, Rated K, is set to make a comeback on TV5 as Rated Korina.
A few months after the shutdown of ABS-CBN, Korina has been holding her magazine show on her Facebook page.
A Sunday noontime variety show to be hosted by Piolo Pascual and Catriona Gray, and directed by Johnny "Mr. M" Manahan, is also expected to air on TV5, which was first reported by PEP Troika on September 6.
Mr. M, who heads Star Magic, is also the director of ABS-CBN's noontime show ASAP Natin ' To, which airs every Sunday on Kapamilya Channel and Kapamilya Online Live.
Piolo is one of ASAP Natin 'To's main hosts, however, he has been notably absent from the show in the last few weeks.
Mr. M will also produce a noontime variety show titled Laugh Out Loud to be headlined by Billy Crawford, Alex Gonzaga, K Brosas, and Wacky Kiray.
Billy is a former TV host of ABS-CBN's noontime show It's Showtime, while K still appears occasionally in the show as a judge in its "Tawag ng Tanghalan" segment.
Meanwhile, Beauty Gonzalez, Yen Santos, and RK Bagatsing will top-bill an upcoming romantic-drama series titled I Got You, which will be directed by Dan Villegas.
As previously reported by PEP.ph, Dimples Romana and Ian Veneracion are set to top-bill a sitcom titled Oh My Dad, with Sue Ramirez, Ariel Ureta, and Gloria Diaz.
Jeffrey Jeturian, the director of ABS-CBN's feel-good shows, such as Be Careful With My Heart and Dream Dad, will helm the series.
Edgar Mortiz, the creator and director of ABS-CBN sitcom and gag shows, will direct a program called Sunday Kada Kada Sunday. However, its cast members are yet to be disclosed.
THE AFTERMATH OF ABS-CBN SHUTDOWN
On the heels of the revoked franchise, Star Magic quickly made the decision to allow its talents, who were formerly exclusive to ABS-CBN, to appear and do shows in other networks.
ABS-CBN TV Production head Lauren Dyogi also said in his vlog that these movements are expected.
On May 5, 2020, ABS-CBN ceased its broadcast operations on free TV and radio as ordered by the National Telecommunications Commission, following the expiration of the network's congressional franchise on May 4.
On June 13, 2020, ABS-CBN launched Kapamilya Channel, a cable channel that served as the home of ongoing ABS-CBN programs.
Subsequenr hearings on the renewal of ABS-CBN's franchise were held in Congress.
On July 10, 2020, Congress killed ABS-CBN's bid for the renewal of its broadcast franchise. This forced the network to lay off thousands of workers and cancel contracts of its artists.
ABS-CBN has since continued to air some of its shows on Kapamilya Channel.
The network later launched its new broadcast platform, Kapamilya Online Live, which airs on YouTube and Facebook.
It also continues to strengthen its online presence via iWant TFC, a video-on-demand streaming platform.
