Mikael on eating healthy: "I’m not into the trendy diets—South Beach diets, Athlete’s diet... I mean, I’m sure they have their pros and their cons, but I really believe in lifestyle diets. I mean, your diet should be something that can be sustainable, something that you can build on and work on for the rest of your life. Kasi, you need to be healthy throughout your life. You can’t just be healthy for, like, one month at a time. Hin

Sa panayam sa kaniya ng PEP noong September 26, wika niya, “You know, it’s a kind of a perfect fit for me kasi like I said, I’m kind of a health buff.

“Ako iyong tipong I go to the internet, I read through magazines and hinahanap ko talaga [health articles] as a hobby. And I do it for fun, so... I do it for fun! I read up on health for fun."

Dagdag pa niya, “For me, eating healthy really is part of my lifestyle talaga.

“And it’s such a great feeling to know that, you know, I’m being backed up and I’m representing Centrum, which also promotes the same advocacy, which is to eat right and supplement your daily diet well.

“So for me, there’s not as much pressure because I’m very confident with what I’m eating, I always try to live a healthy lifestyle and I try to look for other ways to be healthy.”

DIET.

“I’m not into the trendy diets—South Beach diets, Athlete’s diet... I mean, I’m sure they have their pros and their cons, but I really believe in lifestyle diets.

"I mean, your diet should be something that can be sustainable, something that you can build on and work on for the rest of your life.

“Kasi, you need to be healthy throughout your life. You can’t just be healthy for, like, one month at a time. Hindi gano'n.

“Eating well is a lifestyle. So it’s important for me to know what to eat. So whenever I go somewhere, I have an idea now of what’s healthy or not.”

CARBO-LOADING.

“One thing that Filipinos really have problem with is carbs. We eat so much carbs, alam natin yan.

“White rice? Talagang patay tayo sa white rice.

"Kailangan hinay-hinay lang. Everything in moderation."

“Some of us eat five cups of rice in one sitting, 'di ba? So, I think it’s important for Filipinos to know how it affects their diet," wika pa ni Mikael.

"Like, baka kailangan dagdagan ng vegetables or liquid or meat, other than just eating white rice, so... things like that," aniya.

WORKOUT REGIMEN.

“You know, people say you workout three times a week, okay lang, but I kinda like working out every day, if possible.

“Right now, I have tapings so it’s kind of busy and hectic. But given the chance, I would really workout maybe five times a week, six times a week.

“And different kinds of workout, not just gym. I play ball, I’ll run with my brothers and sisters, then I’ll do other things.

“'Cause we’re a very active family, e. We have a very active lifestyle,” sabi pa niya.

“[My] favorite sport is basketball. First love. It’s very Pinoy din.

“Running, biking, and lifting weights—those are my secondary activities.

“But I also like trying out different things, like, I’ve tried out recently badminton. I also like playing volleyball.

“Soccer... I’m not good at it, but hey, my friends play it, and I enjoy naman.

"Let’s see…other things I’ve tried... I tried swimming for a while.

“So I really like trying out different things, different workouts even—not just sports.

"Different kind of workouts… there’s crossfit, there’s training for triathlon... so, I like trying out a lot.”
