On why they decided to dub Regine Velasquez as their Icon, GMA Network president Jimmy Duavit explained, “Isa lang ang nadidinig at naaalalang tinig at boses na siyang tumatayong bilang GMA, or gumaganap na talagang nasa kanya ang G-M-A, nakatatak. Walang kupas maging sa pelikula, sa telebisyon, sa kanta, sa hosting."

Regine Velasquez-Alcasid has renewed her contract again with GMA Network, committing to work for another two years.

Held on October 15, 2013, in the quiet neighborhood of Manila Golf and Country Club in Makati, Regine arrived fresh, early, and looking very excited.

Regine jokingly calls herself “GMA” when network bosses were asked what they want call her, following that Marian Rivera is being dubbed as the Primetime Queen, and Dingdong Dantes as Primetime King.

GMA president and COO Gilberto R. Duavit commended Regine, "Ang katotohanan, ang turing kay Regine ay Icon. Icon natin mula noon.

“Hindi sa sinasabing may edad si Regine. Hindi kasi siya tumatanda, e.”

He added that when he, along with network chairman and CEO Atty. Felipe Gozon and executive vice president Felipe Yalong, joined GMA, “Isa lang ang nadidinig at naaalalang tinig at boses na siyang tumatayong bilang GMA, or gumaganap na talagang nasa kanya ang G-M-A, nakatatak.

“Walang kupas maging sa pelikula, sa telebisyon, sa kanta, sa hosting. Nakakainggit lang, hindi talaga tumatanda."

Atty.

"This has been my home for the past how many years. Siyempre mas comfortable ka na dito, nandito na iyonh mga kaibigan ko, so dito na talaga," said Regine when asked why she chose to remain a Kapuso.

She explains that while offers from other networks are good for the ego—knowing that other people are interested—she values loyalty above all.

“You still want to be with the one you've been working for a long time.

“GMA has been very, very patient with me, especially when I got pregnant. Di ba may iniwanan pa nga akong soap?

“They have been very understanding. Up to the time I gave birth, I was not pressured to do anything, so I appreciated that."

For the next two years, Regine is set to do new projects including a soap opera and musical program.
