"I think ang pinaka-secret namin ay we have fun. Lagi kaming nagtatawanan. Hindi kami masyadong seryoso,” says Regine Tolentino when asked to describe her 17-year relationship with husband Lander Vera-Perez.

After 17 years of togetherness, Regine Tolentino and Lander Vera-Perez are going strong as a married couple.

Taking for granted that they've stayed in love all those years, there are other factors for their enduring marriage.

For one, their passion for dancing.

Seeing them at RT Studios’ Zumba Stars Fitness Party at Robinsons Magnolia last Saturday, January 18, confirmed it.

The couple seemed totally in sync as they led the dance party.

Regine, who founded the RT Studio with the eager support of her husband, said she could not show enough appreciation to Lander for his efforts— not only to give in to what she wants but to actually get into the act himself.

“Hindi ko akalain na through Zumba mangyayari na mas magiging close kami and mas magiging fit.

"So, I’m so happy,” Regine was bubbling as she related this to PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal).

Lander, who claimed to have lost 40 pounds because of Zumba, interjected, “Actually, ang totoo niyan pinilit niya ako.

"First class sa Zumba, nag-start pa lang kami pinilit na niya ako para at least masubukan ko din.

“From that very first day, very first attendance ko, I got hooked na kaagad.

"Sobrang saya, sobrang lakas makapawis, super energetic.

"And maganda ang samahan naming dalawa.”

As Regine and Lander, who are both licensed Zumba instructors, want to promote the dance as a family activity, they've also encouraged their daughters Reigne, 15, and Reigen, 13, to take lessons.

Regine beamed, “We want to promote this activity to keep the family together.

"Para focused tayo on something more positive.

“For people who haven’t tried it, Zumba is easy to do. It’s fun.

"Nakaka-engganyo kasi maganda ang music.”

SHORT ENGAGEMENT, LASTING MARRIAGE. Regine and Lander tied the knot in 1997 after merely six months of dating.

Lander replied, “Sa tingin ko, pag nahanap mo yung tamang tao for you, balewala yung long or short engagement.

“Basta alam mo siya yung soulmate mo, siya yung taong tatagal sa’yo hanggang sa tumanda kayo, ‘wag mo nang pakawalan.”

Although they've had their fair share of marital conflicts, the couple was happy to say that the only thing they fight about these days is what to watch on TV.

“Iba yung mga hilig niya,” Regine elaborated.

“Hilig niya yung mga martial arts.

"Ako mahilig sa fashion, reality shows, and drama.

“Other than that, lagi kami nagbibigayan.

"Minsan ako ang susuko, minsan siya, so balanced.”

The actress-dancer also expounded on why it's important to make an effort to keep the spark alive in a relationship.

“Siyempre yung lambingan at sweetness dapat ‘di nawawala.

"Lalo na yung respeto sa isa’t isa.

“And I think ang pinaka-secret namin ay we have fun.

"Lagi kaming nagtatawanan. Hindi kami masyadong seryoso.”
