Sparkle talent Janeena Chan admits she once felt “immune” to aging.

But at 31, her view has changed and she now describes her skin as being in that “awkward” in-between stage.

In an exclusive with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal), Janeena confessed that lack of sleep now shows on her face, proving she’s not the exception after all.

"Pag walang tulog before, never ako nagkaka-like bags, pero ngayon parang may mga hollow areas na," Janeena told PEP.

The conversation took place on the sidelines of SM Beauty Con 2025 powered by Watsons, SM Beauty and LOOK At Me on August 29, 2025, at the SMX Concention Center in Pasay City.

Janeena continued, "Parang, "Oh no! Di pala ako immune.' So, ayun. Akala ko pa naman. Sometimes you feel like, 'No, I'm the exception pero totoo talaga.

"So again, prevention is better than cure, di ba, sabi nila."

Concerned about early signs like fine lines, dryness, and uneven tone, she’s embraced the Japanese-favourite “mochi skin” routine — and it’s been working for her.

Janeena said, "Mochi skin is actually something super popular in Japan and for sure ang mga Pinays are gonna love it too.

"I know a lot of them or a lot of the beauty junkies there have been doing the mochi skin routine na.

"Pero ang difference kasi niya is mas firm, supple, healthy and, and yet glowing."

focus on consistent hydration and nourishment

To get mochi skin, Janeena says the key is consistent hydration and nourishment—and hyaluronic acid is her go-to for locking in moisture.

She pared her routine down to two staples: Hada Labo Gokujyun Ultimate Moisturizing Lotion and Cream — available at the beauty con for PHP1,780.

Janeena shared, "I guess, in a way, hack na 'to because it's so simple. As in two steps lang siya. And it's because I think this is the first, the first type of product na 8 types yung hyaluronic acid.

"So, that's so cool, di ba? Power-packed na siya, andiyan na lahat including peptides and collagens, and there's this star ingredient pa Symwhite 377.

"So it's great for brightening the skin and yung uneven skin tone. So all that is in one product. So, ang galing. So I think that in itself is a hack."

She later added: "Parang may texture siya na mochi, when you apply it, it's so fun. Nakaka-addict siyang gawin.

"As in I find myself smiling and looking forward to applying these products especially the premium hydrating lotion kase even yung pagapply mo para kang mochi mochi skin.

"And then, of course, you'll see, see the visible results din."

NOOD KA MUNA!

Besides helping her achieve mochi skin, Janeena swears these products also prep her skin for makeup, making it go on smoother and last longer throughout the day.

She said: "Most of the time people think it's just like after, after you remove your makeup, umiyos skincare ka.

"But actually, this line is also perfect for before makeup. So magandang skin prep siya."

"With that parang you just wear super minimal makeup lang. Ang ganda na ng base. It's so firm and smooth. And yun super ganda, ganda niya for skin prep."
