Buboy Villar feels grateful to have such thoughtful friends.
On Monday, March 21, 2022, the GMA-7 actor celebrated his 24th birthday with his closest friends and family at his uncle's cafe in Rizal.
Buboy's closest celebrity friends, including Kapuso stars Jelai Andres, Ruru Madrid, Dave Bornea, Herlene "Hipon Girl" Budol, and content creator Whamos Cruz were present at his birthday celebration.
In a YouTube vlog dated April 4, 2022, Buboy's BFF Jelai shared the Kapuso actor's reaction to her expensive birthday gift—an iPhone 13 Pro Max.
The cheapest iPhone 13 Pro Max currently retails for PHP70,990. But Jelai mentioned she received a good discount from an online shop called @Di_Fam on Instagram.
Early in the vlog, Jelai mentioned that she did save up for her gift to Buboy. "Very special yung gift ko sa kanya. Pinag-ipunan ko yun, Buboy! Sana magustuhan mo."
Jelai also predicted Buboy's reaction to her birthday gift knowing that the Kapuso actor isn't fond of receiving expensive gifts from his friends.
She said, "Kasi kapag may binibigay ako sa kanyang special something, or basta kapag may binibigay ako sa kanya... tuwing binibigyan ko yun, minumura ako nun!
"Kaya panigurado mumurahin din ako niyan mamaya."
But before she unveiled her gift to Buboy, Jelai played a prank on her BFF.
The My Fantastic Pag-ibig actress asked Buboy's friends and housemates to send her some of his old items—Buboy's "lucky" bag and old overused underwear—which she placed inside Louis Vuitton boxes.
Buboy was definitely surprised to see his old things inside the boxes.
The Kapuso actor was left speechless after seeing his brand-new phone from his bestie. As Jelai predicted, Buboy did curse at her after seeing her gift.
Buboy told Jelai, "Ul*l ka! Gag*!"
Towards the end of the video, Buboy expressed his gratitude toward Jelai.
"Ang pinakamalaking natanggap ko na, sabi ko, kasi mahilig naman ako sa sapatos. Pero hindi ko in-expect yung cellphone mo."
He added, "Ako yung tao na hindi ko na kailangan ng pinakamahal na bagay sa mundo na ito.
"Ang pinakamahalaga sa akin, pagkakaibigan. Pero ikaw, kaibigan na kita 'tapos binigyan mo pa ako ng ganun."
