Enrique Gil admitted that one way he expresses his appreciation for girlfriend Liza Soberano is through gifts.
But the couple have made an agreement not to give each other expensive gifts even if it's Valentine's Day.
"We do [give each other gifts], but we promise na wag masyadong mahal na gifts na," Enrique told PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) in an exclusive interview last Monday, February 11.
He continued, "Parang we have to save up also for the future but, yeah, there's a point where we give each other like expensive gifts."
Although Enrique did not mention the gifts he has given Liza, the Bagani actor revealed spending around PHP500,000 for his reel-turned-real life partner.
Enrique, however, said he and Liza made a mutual decision to slow down on giving each other lavish gifts.
"We spend like half a million in a gift or something like that, you know. After that, sabi namin parang tama na muna.
"It's been 500K and you know, it's a gift and stuff, so sabi namin just slow down na parang we don't really need it as much na din."
For the Star Magic talent, the best gift they will probably give each other is financial security.
He explained, "Parang ang sinabi ko, the best gift to me, you know, business and our security in the future.
"That’ll be the best gift, like buying property is a good business... That's the best gift kasi it feels good inside, di ba?
"Parang you're doing... you’re more that just an actor. You can cater to food like restaurants.
"In the future, I wanna open a restaurant, and she has her own salon, wellness spa.
"Yun ang mga dreams namin, we wanna do those stuff in the future...aligned with acting on the side so that’ll be... that’s our dream."
VALENTINE'S DAY PLANS
Enrique and Liza have made it a tradition to celebrate Valentine's Day with each other.
But this year, the couple will focus on their latest movie Alone/Together, and have decided to reschedule their celebration on a later date.
He said, "We have block screenings on that day. I think 22 block screenings on that day so parang mahirap ata isingit yung dinner.
"So I may have something for her... for our dinner, siguro i-reschedule na lang namin yung dinner date namin.
"Kahit mag-dinner na lang kami sa van on the way, basta magkasama kami."
When asked where he gets his ideas for Valentine's Day treat, he said, "I’m not really good at it, it just pops to my mind.
"What I search... I just go with the flow. 'Parang maganda dito, pwede dito,' ganun lang, pero I don't think about it too much kasi mai-stress pa.
"Dapat di ka mai-stress sa Valentines, you know."
Enrique added, "I think simple naman siya i-please, e. Hindi naman maselan si Liza, that’s what I love about her too.
"Kahit dalhin mo kahit saan iyan, okay sa kanya."
But the Kapamilya actor makes sure to give his girlfriend the best.
"I mean, you need to celebrate love and my love for her. And I think she deserves the best, only the best.
"So I take her out to a beautiful dinner, flowers, mga classic, classic stuff."
What was his memorable Valentine's Day date with Liza?
He answered, "Any valentines is memorable.
"Just me and her having dinner it’s masaya. Yun lang, I think simple lang."
