“Only my brother is a registered nurse & doctor. My mom and sister are both registered nurses. And my other brother is a BS biology graduate turned science teacher.

“So I am the only one who took up a non-medical field,” kuwento ni Ar.

“Now a CPA-lawyer, I’m a first-generation lawyer in the family.”

“Yes, I can’t stand even the smell of a hospital. This is why any medical course was my last choice of course,” pagkumpirma niya.

Dugtong ni Ar, “People who know our family would have assumed I was to take nursing, but when I decided to take accountancy, my family was supportive about it.

“My goal was to become the first CPA-Lawyer in the family, a dream my late father would have wanted for himself.”

NO NEED TO PROVE ANYTHING TO HIS FAMILY

“Not necessarily,” sagot niya. “I didn’t have anything to prove to my family.

“It was my goal to be a topnotcher to prove to myself that I can also do it, as someone from the small city of Zamboanga.”

“I remember during my interview for admission to law school, I was asked what was my first choice of law school.

“Back then, of course I said I wanted to study in my dream schools - UP or ADMU.

“I thought to myself I would have better chances of actually topping the Bar.

“But because I don’t necessarily have the privileges to be able to pursue law in these prestigious schools, I decided to pursue it here in Zamboanga.”

“Looking back, I don’t regret any of my choices. I have achieved what I have set my mind into. I am proud to be a Zamboanga-produced topnotcher,” sabi ni Ar.

Sabi niya, “My main tip for future examinees is discipline.

“Preparation starts the moment you enter law school. No single subject must be taken for granted.

“Make notes for every subject you have, then use these same notes as you prepare for the Bar exam.”

“Surround yourself with people who have the same passion and goals as you have.

“Manage your time wisely by making schedules. Set daily goals.

“And of course, the most important, to be consistent from Day 1 until the last day you take the last subject for the Bar Exams.”
