Kim Chiu continues her reign as one of the ABS-CBN Ball's red-carpet stunners when she arrived at the event wearing a white serpentine-cut terno gown.
Dubbed as the "Traje De Magdalena," Tthe gown is designed by Benj Leguiab IV.
He takes inspiration from the Barong Tagalog, a traditional article of clothing often associated to men, and redesigned it for women.
On the designer's Instagram account, Benj reveals the bigger inspiration behind the gown's name.
The gown is a homage to the "brave and strong Filipina," specfiically to the late World War II veteran Magdalena Estiosta Leones.
His caption reads, as published: "Also known as Lioness of Filipina Agents.
"Born and raised in Kalinga, MAGDALENA ESTIOSTA LEONES didn't let her lack of military experience stop her from assuming various roles during WWII (World War II).
"She spent most of her early twenties nursing the wounded and providing vital intelligence information to the Allied forces.
"Indeed, she was the ultimate Filipina spy."
The "Traje De Magdalena" terno gown is made with "24 different kinds of bead glass, pearls, Swavorski crystals and others."
Kim walked the red carpet with her boyfriend Xian Lim.
The ABS-CBN Ball 2019 is for the benefit of Bantay Bata 163. This year aims to raise fund for its Bantay Edukasyon Program.
The second edition of the Kapamilya charity ball was held on September 14 at Shangri-La at the Fort in Bonifacio Global City.
