Philippine bet Samantha Bernardo gave a stunning performance during the Miss Grand International 2021 preliminaries held at Show DC Hall in Bangkok, Thailand on Thursday night, March 25, 2021.
The 27-year-old model and development mentor from Palawan wowed in her emerald green evening gown while showcasing her "pasarela" walk, which was dubbed "Granada walk."
Her gown was created by Laguna-based fashion designer Louis Pangilinan.
In an Instagram post, her stylist Kenneth Yturralde Ramil shared more details about her evening gown, which was inspired by the Yellow-throated leafbird, a native bird of Palawan.
Kenneth wrote in the caption of his post (published as is), "This gown inspirits the small bird with broad wings that is undoubtedly recognizable by its green body color and yellow throat called 'Yellow-throated leafbird.'
"This bird is endemic to Palawan which Samantha Bernardo represents in her Binibining Pilipinas expedition.
"This emerald green-colored gown is premeditated with hand-embroidered beads and sequins.
"Accentuated with gold crystals as a representation of the yellow throat of the bird and feathers from fibers extracted by hand and worked into fine threads woven together in the lower part of the gown."
On the gown's color. Kenneth added, "Emerald green shows a woman’s growth, humility, and courage – characteristics that made our queen @samanthabernardo__ grand and awe-inspiring."

Sam is a crowd favorite at the Miss Grand International 2021 pageant.
On Wednesday, March 24, her golden Philippine Eagle-inspired national costume generated positive reactions from pageant fans. In fact, she is currently leading the online poll for the Best in National Costume award.
Sam also made it to the top 20 of the pageant's swimsuit competition, and ranked third on the online poll.
The grand coronation night will be on Sunday, March 27, in Bangkok, Thailand.
