The story behind Barbie Forteza's Christian Dior J'Adior bracelet
by Nikko Tuazon There is more to Barbie Forteza owning a Christian Dior J'Adior bracelet than the simple fact that the pricey trinket is a must-have among showbiz luminaries.
This drawstring bracelet has become a requisite accessory among celebrities—Heart Evangelista and Jinkee Pacquiao have been spotted wearing it—since it debuted in Dior's Cruise 2018 collection.
Barbie, wearing her newly acquired J'Adior bracelet, told PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) during the filming of her #SummitSessions interview she had long wanted to have one.
The Maria Clara at Ibarra actress recalled, "Ito kasi, matagal ko na itong nakikita sa mga artista. Lahat may ganito-ganyan, Christian Dior na friendship bracelet.
"Sabi ko, parang maraming artistang naka-ganito. Tapos tinignan ko yung presyo, e isang buwang grocery ko na, e.
"Parang magmula nung pandemic, hindi na ulit kasi ako bumili ng anything branded, anything luxury.
"Kasi nga nari-realize ko nung pandemic, naka-tengga lang siya sa closet ko. Sabi ko, 'Hindi ko siya nagagamit, hindi ko siya nakakain!'
"So, di ba, parang mas naging practical ako, ganyan-ganyan. Yung presyo kasi nito, e, isang buwang grocery ko na so hindi ko siya para bilhin."
GIFT FROM ATTENTIVE BOYFRIEND
The Kapuso star revealed it was her boyfriend Jak Roberto who gave her a pair of J'Adior bracelets on her 25th birthday last July 31, 2022.
Barbie recounted. "Nakakatuwa na naalala ni Jak yun, so nung birthday ko last July 31st, binigay niya sa akin ito.
"Kinuwento ko sa kanya. Kinuwento ko na, 'Alam mo, gusto ko sana ng ganito.'
"Kasi pag lumalabas ako, pag naggo-grocery kami, errands, ganyan, casual lang din talaga yung outfit ko.
"So siyempre, gusto ko naman ng medyo sosyaling accessory, di ba? Statement, parang ganyan! E, ang mahal, ang mahal talaga."
But it wasn't the brand or its price tag—a pair of J'Adior bracelet costs EUR350 or around PHP20,632.15 on the brand's official website—that made Barbie very happy about Jak's gift to her.
She rhapsodized, "Nakakatuwa kasi alam ko nag-pay attention siya nung chinika ko sa kanya.
"Yun yung pinaka-importante. He pays attention to the smallest details na chinichika ko."
Barbie ended the video telling her beau, "I love you!"
