Hollywood stars Doja Cat, Jared Leto, and Lil Nas X meowed at the 2023 Met Gala.
On May 1, 2023 (EST), the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City once again opened its doors for the Met Gala, its annual Costume Institute Benefit where global celebrities give their lavish take on the event's theme.
As this year's theme pays tribute to the late fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld (1933-2019), three international artists put on their best feline ensembles in honor of the German creative's famous cat Choupette.
Just for a brief background about Choupette. She was born on August 15, 2011, and is also famous for leading a luxurious lifestyle.
She was actually invited to the event, but sent her regrets through her Instagram account @choupetteofficiel. Her post read, "Many people invited me to walk the red carpet of the #METGALA2023 in tribute to Daddy, but we preferred to stay peacefully & cozy at home.
"We pay tribute to my Daddy every day since his parting and we are very moved to see one more day dedicated to him."
Doja Cat
American rapper-singer Doja Cat purred in an Oscar de la Renta creation for her debut at one of fashion's biggest nights.
The sleek one-piece hooded outfit featured a cat-ear silhouette and feathered train.
She completed her look with smokey cat-eye liner and fine brows by Saccia, as well as cat nose and mouth make-up sculpted by FX make-up artist Malina Stearns.
Madame cat did not mess around with the details, too, wearing a Messika diamond headpiece that featured a 17-carat diamond in the shape of an inverted pear.
Meanwhile, she also wore a pair of custom-made arm pieces studded with pear-shaped diamonds that had a total carat weight of 2.5 and 4.5, respectively.

The 27-year-old artist told Rachel Smith in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, that it took two hours for her team to put together the entire ensemble.

Jared Leto
Met Gala's frequent guest Jared Leto gave spectators something to talk about.
Not only did he simply channel the renowned cat, but he literally cosplayed Choupette in a massive, fluffy cat suit.

In 2019, Jared brought his own head.

This year, the House of Gucci actor brought the cat's head in similar fashion to reveal his stunning eye make-up.

And even in his furry costume, he got hugs from Hollywood's A-listers, such as Anne Hathaway.

Lil Nas X
Rapper-singer Lil Nas X had a shimmering impression of the glamorous cat.
The Montero emcee was a certified showstopper in nothing but a metallic thong, sparkling silver body paint, and lots and lots of jewels.
A spectacular eye mask became the focal point of his outfit.

Bejeweled with pearls and crystals from head to toe, Lil Nas X topped off his ensemble with silver whiskers, inch-long fingernails and platform boots.

Karl Lagerfeld was a German fashion designer, creative director, artist, and photographer. He was known for his works with top fashion houses Chanel, Balmain, Patou, and Chloé.
