In a few weeks, Maxine Medina will officially pass her Miss Universe Philippines title to a new Pinay.
Early this week, Binibining Pilipinas officially launched its final 40 candidates for the pageant's 54th edition.
PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and other members of the press asked Maxine for some advice to the candidates vying for her crown.
Here's what the 26-year-old beauty queen/interior designer said:
"I don't want to [list down] numbers of advices, instead, just be you.
"Be yourself and express yourself freely kasi the character will come out and your colors will come out.
"People will appreciate you, and people will love you as you are."
Maxine added, "It's true, you don't have to be somebody else or change kasi it's you, your personality, it's your character.
"That's the most important thing."
Maxine then took the chance to thank Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach for for her touching gesture after the pageant.
"Thank you so much, Pia Wurtzbach. Sobrang yung comfort mo that night on stage, it was truly a hug for a friend."
Does her younger sister Ferica Medina have plans of joining the Binibining Pilipinas pageant soon?
"Of course, sinasabihan ko siya. Pero it's up to her kasi siyempre, alam mo naman ang pageant, and siyempre na-witness din ng sister ko yun. So it's up to her kung gusto niya."
MISS UNIVERSE. Maxine also thanked the Pinoys for their support during the Miss Universe pageant.
Our bet made it to top 6; France's Iris Mittenaere took home the crown.
Maxine said, "Maraming salamat sa fellow Filipinos, salamat po sa lahat ng suporta niyo, prayers, love. Sobrang nag-boost up yung confidence ko that night."
What was her most treasured moment during the Miss Universe pageant?
"Yung sigaw ng buong Pilipinas nung lumabas ako. Maraming, maraming salamat. Kulang na lang umiyak ako. Sobrang na-touch ako!"
