Kapuso star Drew Arellano has decided to close the chapter on having more children—quite literally.

The Biyahe ni Drew host revealed through an Instagram post on April 28, 2025, that he had undergone a vasectomy, calling it his gift to wife Iya Villania ahead of Mother’s Day.

A Final Addition to Drew and Iya's Family

On February 11, 2025, Drew and Iya welcomed their fifth child, Anya Love Villania-Arellano, into the world.

Drew introduced their baby girl to the public by posting her first photo, along with the caption: “Anya Love Villania-Arellano. [heart emoji] February 11, 2025. 10:52 a.m.”

The post drew in waves of congratulatory messages from fellow celebrities and friends, including Megan Young, Lovi Poe, Carla Abellana, Donita Rose, Gian Magdangal, Bubbles Paraiso, Bianca Gonzalez, and Saab Magalona.

Months prior, Iya opened up about her fifth pregnancy during a September 2024 interview with Nelson Canlas on the Updated podcast.

While it came as a surprise, she called it a “welcome one,” noting, “No, it was not planned. Our plan is—well, sometimes it’s the same, but more often than not, it’s different from God’s plan.”

She added that they always understood the possibility of another child, joking that until one of them got “tied,” the door was technically open.

From Wishful Thinking to Action

The vasectomy, a minor procedure that cuts the supply of sperm to the semen and serves as a long-term form of male contraception, had been in the couple’s plans for a while.

In June 2023, Drew spoke about it in an episode of Pia Arcangel’s Surprise Guest podcast.

Reflecting on their early parenting hopes, he said, “I think we were aiming for one muna and then the second one, kung naging girl si Leon, I think that would've been it. Primo and Leona. Okay na.”

But as many parents quickly learn, baby planning rarely goes by the book.

The couple’s first two children—Primo and Leon—were both boys, which nudged them into trying for a third child, with fingers crossed for a girl.

For their third pregnancy, they decided not to find out the gender in advance, and during the pandemic in 2020, Drew found himself waiting outside the delivery room.

“I couldn't go to the delivery room, so I was just waiting sa room namin,” he recalled.

“Then, dinala na yung baby and like, ‘Color pink!’”

Their daughter Alana arrived, shifting the dynamic of their household.

“Iba rin yung feeling ng having a girl lalo na two years in,” Drew shared.

He admitted he finally understood what fellow dads meant when they said daughters have a special kind of tenderness for their fathers.

“‘Papa!’ parang ang hirap pagalitan,” he confessed, echoing the sentiments of many girl dads.

Drew Arellano: “We’re Good”

By the time their fourth child, Astro, came along in 2022, and with the arrival of baby Anya in 2025, it was clear to the Arellanos that their family was complete.

During an appearance on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda just weeks after Drew’s 2023 podcast interview, he reaffirmed their decision: “You’re the best mother to all the kids, and, uh, I will do my vasectomy soon.”

The spontaneous remark prompted laughter from Iya and a raised eyebrow from Boy, who asked if he was joking.

“No, that’s the plan. That’s our plan,” Drew clarified, his tone more serious.

Iya chimed in with a knowing grin, “Let’s see. Until he gets it done, we never know, right?”

Now that it’s done, the couple seems ready to embrace their roles as parents of five—without the suspense of surprise pregnancies.
