Angel Locsin inspires her followers to overcome whatever setbacks they are facing at the moment. She writes, "Don't ever feel guilty or sorry. And don't try to over-compensate just to please others. Focus on what you can do. ACCEPT and learn to ADJUST."

Showbiz fans have always seen Angel Locsin as a fighter, and the ABS-CBN actress confirmed this once more with her latest Instagram post.

Nearly three years ago after undergoing surgery for her spinal injury, Angel shows off her new fighting form as she continues her training for The General's Daughter, her forthcoming teleserye comeback on ABS-CBN prime time.

The actress executes a flurry of menacing kicks in her kickboxing training montage video.

In her caption, Angel relates how her health condition taught her determination, patience, and self-respect.

Angel writes, "My spine injury will always be with me and it took me a while to accept that.

"As a former athlete who used to believe in 'mind over matter' to conquer pain, I realized that pain is sometimes just a reminder that we might be pushing ourselves too hard beyond our limits.

"But it doesn’t mean that you should stop.

"Don’t go there. PLEASE.

"Rest for a while. DON’T EVER rush yourself to recovery and NEVER let pressure hinder your body’s healing process.

"Take your time.

"Don’t ever feel guilty or sorry. And don’t try to over-compensate just to please others.

"Focus on what you can do.

"ACCEPT and learn to ADJUST."

Angel then related how patience and perseverance allowed her to heal completely.

She continued, "After many relapses & tears, despite being told that I CANNOT anymore, this is me doing kicks again :)

"Prolly not the way that I used to, but this is fine for now.

"I’m doing this carefully this time. With the help of my trusted PT and instructors. Still a long way to go.

"If you are suffering from injuries and reading this, I hope your process will not take as long as mine.

"If it does, that’s fine. You would know when you’re ready to bounce back.

"Praying for no pain and speedy recovery.

"If you are among the lucky ones who are not in pain, thanks for taking time to read this long post.

"I appreciate your effort and I hope that you could help uplift the suffering through awareness and understanding.

"Cheers to good health!"

MINOR SETBACK. It was in late 2015 when Angel revealed that she had a spine condition called "bulging disc injury."

According to spinecare.luminhealth.com, bulging disc injury occurred "when a weakened or deteriorated disc swells through a crevice in the spine, extending outside of its normal jurisdiction. This condition happens when a disc shifts out of its normal position, usually slowly and over a long period of time."

In an interview on the Kapamilya late-night program Tonight with Boy Abunda, Angel acknowledged that her decision to perform stunts in most of her projects might have caused this condition to worsen throughout the years.

But Angel underlined, "Hindi ko pinagsisihan kung ano mang injury nakuha ko noon kasi masaya akong ginagawa ko iyon.

"Masaya ako kasi alam ko iyon iyong nagpapasaya sa mga tao.

"Iyon iyong rason kung bakit din ako nag-artista—to give happiness and inspiration."

Despite her earnest efforts to please her fans, Angel still had to let go of her most famous role—Darna.

Angel was supposed to star in the modern remake of Darna, but her doctors advised her to not undergo extreme activities to prevent permanent damage to her spine.

The role was eventually given to Liza Soberano.

Angel then underwent a two-part surgical procedure to treat her spinal injury.
