Liza Soberano aims for physical strength: " I know it's a challenge, and it's something that I really need to work on, [but] that's what drives me even more to do well…"

Liza Soberano has one of the most beautiful faces in the industry, and she appears to be having it all.

But here she is opening up about her insecurities.

"My biggest insecurity will probably be my weight," the newest NIVEA endorser tells PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) during the skin-care brand's launch of its newest line of products.

The actress has been consistent about this.

In her previous interviews, she mentioned feeling "bigger than most of the other girls on TV" and conscious about her "really wide hips."

The 20-year-old star does not think she's pretty, too.

"Sa face ko, I find my eyes imperfect because siyempre, lahat naman tayo hindi pantay o hindi sobrang symmetrical yung face," she once told PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal).

But the rest of the world disagrees.

In fact, Liza's beauty has become legendary, constantly making headlines and bagging endorsements left and right.

Her simple secret?

"Always wash your face before and after makeup," she says, smiling.

The Bagani star also stresses the importance of using products that are gentle on the face.

She swears by the "zero-percent alcohol" formulations of NIVEA MicellAlR Cleanser and Whip Foam.

And since she prefers a simpler skin-care routine, her cleanser and foam have multiple uses—the former cleanses dirt and removes makeup without stripping skin’s moisture; the latter cleanses and moisturizes.

MADE OF TOUGHER STUFF

Liza is more than just a pretty face.

Her strong will usually triumphs over her self-doubt.

As everyone knows, she is set to appear in Erik Matti's take on the Pinoy comic book icon, Darna.

And the ABS-CBN actress is aware of the criticism that she is not right for the coveted role, she does not have build for it.

Liza says, "I've been bashed for it before, and now that I got Darna, of course, parang mas may pressure ako to get physically fit...

"I know it's a challenge, and it's something that I really need to work on, [but] that's what drives me even more to do well... To work even harder for it."

As soon as it was announced that Liza would be this generation's Darna, the Kapamilya star went straight to physical training that same week.

For more than a year, Liza has been conditioning herself for the role under the guidance of celebrity fitness coach Bok Santos.

Liza is also taking up dance classes to improve her movements and foot coordination for stunts.

The young actress has been showing off her action skills on the prime-time series Bagani.

She has also posted on Instagram some photos of her intense physical training.

Liza remarks, "A lot of people think I'm 'lampa.'

"I just want to prove to them that I can do it."
