Sunshine Dizon will be welcoming the new year in a new house!
The 33-year-old actress told PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) in an exclusive interview on December 22, that she and her kids, Doreen and Antonio, have been preparing for their move in.
"Hopefully makalipat kami bago mag-New Year, so new house, new year!"
Their new home was given to her by her estranged husband Timothy Tan's father, Lito Tan.
She said, "It's a town house given to me by my father-in-law, it's three floors."
"It's brand new, but I had it renovated to suit my style."
Is she done with her furniture and appliance shopping?
"That's what I'm gonna do, as in new everything."
Sunshine also gave some tips on how to save when buying new stuff for your new home.
1. Shop when there's a huge sale!
It takes a good amount of patience, but 20 to 70 percent discount is a big thing.
Sunshine said, "I got the bed frames already and then buti na lang hindi ako nagmadali.
"Kasi the owner of like a certain bilihan of kutson store gave me a really good price for all the kutsons.
"So nice discount, and I'm so happy."
2. Splurge on quality items!
Consider it an investment since you can use them in your home for several years.
In the case of Sunshine, mattresses are really important.
"Sa bahay, pag kunyare sa kama talaga 'yan, medyo picky ako sa kutson. Parang, magsu-splurge ako for a good kutson kasi talagang tinutulugan mo 'yan and all 'di ba?"
3. Functionality over design
Sunshine would pick a cozy home over something posh and polished.
"Pag sofa naman, yung tipong yung can put your feet up 'tapos puwede kang makatulog, yung ganun. Yung comfy at saka kailangan uupuan mo talaga yun na parang the sofa will call you."
4. Consider you family members when looking for furniture.
As a mom of two, Sunshine sees to it that her furniture pieces are kids-friendly.
"Pagdating naman sa mga dining sets, I have two little kids so I opted for safety naman. As much as possible, no glass. Mas more on wood tables."
5. Power inverters are good investments.
You can really save on your monthly electricity bill with inverter appliances because you save more when you use them longer.
Sunshine suggested, "Actually, ngayon ko lang nalaman yung parang inverter. So it's something really wise to get 'di ba?
"If you're someone who turns on your aircon for 24 hours, it's recommended that you get an inverter because it's cheaper in the long run.
"Also, they have inverters na rin na refrigerators so it's also something good and wise to get."
