The GMA-7 talent also practices the "30-day rule" when it comes to big purchases, in-store or online.
He continues, "I actually wait for 30 days before I make a purchase, especially big-ticket purchases.
"After 30 days, I ask myself these questions, 'Kailangan ko ba ito? Para saan ito? Mabubuhay ba ako ng wala ito?'"
Alden further reveals that he prioritizes "needs" over "wants" when he goes shopping either for himself or his family most importantly.
A piece of advice he delights in sharing is to keep a checklist of necessities, which he finds helpful in reining in his spending.
Alden reminds, "Mahirap man, try not to be an impulsive buyer. Gumawa ka ng checklist of what items you need to buy.
"Mag-set ka lang ng budget on the things you need, and maybe an item or two that you can’t live without!"
For someone who loves playing video games, Alden admits purchasing a gaming chair online.
It wasn't cheap, but Alden says it was one of the most "sulit" items he has bought so far.
Asked what else are inside his shopping cart, Alden replies, "I have some exercise equipment and some kitchen items like a blender, drinking glasses na na-add to cart ko na, but I’ve been waiting for the sale."
And there he goes, the budgetarian in him rejoicing, "Masaya tayo, discounts and free shipping."
