Julia Barretto is now an inducted member of the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary (PCGA) K9 Squadron.
On Wednesday, September 1, 2021, the 24-year-old Kapamilya actress and three other auxiliarists attended the donning and oath-taking ceremonies facilitated by PCG Commandant, CG Admiral George V Ursabia Jr. at the PCG National Headquarters in Port Area, Manila.
PCG uploaded photos from the ceremony on their official Facebook page.
According to the post, Julia gave a speech and thanked the PCG, especially the PCGA K9 Squadron, for welcoming her.
The post also noted that Julia "pledged to actively support the initiatives of the unit towards the delivery of humble and compassionate service to the Filipino people."
PCG's Facebook post reiterated that auxiliary members/officers of PCG are volunteers and are "committed to serve the PCG by offering their time, efforts, and resources without expecting anything in return."
Julia's boyfriend Gerald Anderson, who is also the Auxiliary Lieutenant Commander of the PCGA K9 Squadron, was present during the ceremony.
He was, of course, the first to welcome Julia into the voluntary organization.
Gerald shared photos on Instagram where he and Julia are seen wearing their PCGA uniforms.
For his caption, Gerald wrote, "Welcome to the PCGA K9 Special Support Squadron [emoji] AUX ENS Julia Barretto #philippinecoastguard @juliabarretto
Gerald has been a member of the PCGA since 2016.
Aside from Julia and Gerald, other celebrities who are part of the PCGA are Diether Ocampo, Matteo Guidicelli, Nico Bolzico, and Erwan Heussaff.
