Ahn Bo Hyun reveals travel bucket list in the Philippines

South Korean star Ahn Bo Hyun is thrilled to celebrate his 10th anniversary as an actor in 2024 with his Filipino fans.

This Saturday, May 25, 2024, he will meet his fans during his “Hello!” tour at the New Frontier Theater in Quezon City.

The 36-year-old actor held a press conference ahead of the event and candidly talked about the trip, his Philippine travel bucket list, and his acting career.

“It’s my first time to actually come here for an official event, so I’m very honored to be here,” Bo Hyun stated through an interpreter.

Ahn Bo Hyun began his acting career with the 2014 K-drama Golden Cross.

By early 2024, he marked his 10th anniversary, beloved for roles in Hiya, Descendants of the Sun, Yumi’s Cells, See You In My 19th Life, and Flex X Cop.

When asked how he is enjoying the fan meeting tour so far, Bo Hyun mentioned, with the help of an interpreter, “I would like to say that it’s going pretty well and, you know, I actually had a lot of Filipino fans supporting for me through the comments and messages, and I’m really happy to see them in person… this time.”

He added, “I’m really excited to meet my fans through my fan meeting but, you know… among the many cities and the tours that I’ve been, this is the first city that I’m actually having vacation as well.

“So I’m very excited because many of my fans have visited here in the Philippines, and they actually love this country so much.”

AHN BO HYUN’S PHILIPPINE TRAVEL BUCKET LIST

With Bo Hyun’s enthusiasm towards exploring the country, PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) inquired about the places in the Philippines he would like to visit for a vacation with his family or friends.

The talented actor promptly responded, through an interpreter: “Actually I had an opportunity to visit Philippines with my friends before but due to schedule, I had to cancel my flight.

"And my friends were bragging to me about how great Boracay was, and how they were enjoying the big waves there.

“And, you know, after trying the Filipino waves, they cannot do it again in Korea. They were mentioning like that.

“So if ever I’m given an opportunity — anywhere like Palawan, Boracay, Cebu — and it’ll be a good for a vacation [after] my fan meet.”

Considering the number of series and movies Bo Hyun participated in, the press were curious about the genre or role he enjoyed the most.

Although he had a hard time selecting a specific genre or role, he revealed that he would love to try more genres in the future.

He said, “I think it’s really hard for me to choose because there are different kind of influences that I actually get from different genres that I tried.

“For example, if I to try something like a police investigation series and, you know, because of the scripts, I actually get kind of depressed or feel sad about the scripts that I’m reading.

“Sometimes if it goes with the romance-comedy, there’s like power in the script, to the point that I, you know, get to laugh.

“So, I cannot specifically say that I would like to try a specific or do love a specific genre, but I would do love to try various genres.”

Proven by his versatility in his past works, it was not surprising to hear that Bo Hyun still has dream roles or genres that he would like to portray in his next projects.

He shared, “Since there are a lot of roles that I haven’t tried yet, I would like to try out for them.

“And also because many of the worldwide fans were watching K-contents, you know, I would like to try out historical drama and also noirs or romance-comedy, and I would like to try a very evil role as well.”

In a span of ten years, fans have seen the South Korean actor in over 20 K-dramas, web series, and movies.

There is no doubt that Bo Hyun’s repertoire includes a variety of characters he brought to life, showcasing his acting skills.

In this regard, the media posed a question about his considerations when choosing roles and projects.

He explained, through an interpreter, “So, we cannot exclude the fact that most important factor that we consider about is, like, ‘Can I actually perform it well with this role?’ You know, that’s the first, we cannot exclude that.

“But one another thing that I actually focus on is that with the previous projects that I’ve done, you know, ‘Is my role very different?’ Like, ‘Can I show a different or new side to the audience or to the viewers?’

“That’s one of the other most important thing that I consider about— to actually show a different side of me.”

AHN BO HYUN’S LIFE REFLECTIONS

Not everyone but a lot K-drama fans think that celebrities’ lives have always been filled with rainbows and butterflies or glitz and glamour.

Although many actors really have impressive backgrounds and colorful childhoods, not everyone does; case in point, the childhood of Bo Hyun.

When he was told to give his 10-year-old self some advice, he cannot help but take a playful sigh before admitting that he was once harsh on himself.

As translated, he recalled, “To actually look back about the life that I actually lived: I lived a life where I cannot even remember what puberty is. But I was really harsh on myself, doing a lot of efforts.

“And if I go back, I would like to tell my younger self to be more lenient and to live a life that suits your age.”

Reflecting on his struggles, Bo Hyun declared that he has taken roles without names (like an extra), then he discussed what kept him going as an actor.

He recalled, “I would like to say that I had a lot of insights, you know, from a role that does not have a name to a role that has a name, and plus another there’s a role that has a line…

“Those kind of small processes were able to make, drag me for ten years and then became who I am, to a person who is actually able to greet a lot of my fans, and I’m very thankful for that.”
