Danzel Fernandez spends his downtime creating content for social media, aside from his duties as a public servant.

The son of actor-politician Dan Fernandez and his ex-wife Sheila Ysrael firmly believes in sharing responsible content, a practice he upholds on his TikTok and Instagram accounts.

"Well, as a content creator, especially if you're one who has a big following, you have the responsibility to really put out content that's credible and valuable," he told PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) in an exclusive interview on June 21, 2024.

With 121,000 TikTok followers and 23,000 Instagram followers, Danzel hopes a more mindful approach sets a positive example for others, especially when it comes to sharing comments or information on social media.

Danzel continued, "Dapat we don't bring out comments too rashly or we shouldn't share information that we aren't really sure of.

"Mahirap na mag-spread tayo ng fake news.

"So, as much as possible, we should be careful at dapat pinag-aralan natin yung mga linalagas natin ng content."

Danzel understands that everyone is entitled to their opinion, whether good or bad, when posting publicly on social media.

But how does he handle bashers or criticism when he encounters them?

"Sa akin, ako, I'm the type of person who hindi na-aggressive ako e.

"I would always take anything that they say as constructive criticism.

"Kasi siguro, there are times na hindi natin talaga maiiwasan yung mga ganun bagay because it's out of our control.

"But as much as possible, let's try to think of it as a positive thing and try to understand their perspective.

"At ang importante lang naman is we get our message across and yung point natin as to why we deliver that kind of message."

The interview was held at the grand opening of Watsons Philippines' first-ever Greener Store in San Pedro, Laguna.

For someone deeply invested in skincare, Danzel understands the importance of taking the time to find the right products.

With netizens creating funny, relatable memes about men patiently waiting outside boutiques or stores for their girlfriends while shopping, Danzel can relate.

This is why he doesn't mind waiting for his girlfriend, Lhyra Zophiya, as she takes her time inside a store to buy skincare.

"Actually, as someone who's also into yung skincare and stuff, I understand bakit matatagal din naman ang girls here, kasi really, what we do... we do invest is with ourselves.

"So through Watsons na, maganda naman yung mga products nila, especially for skincare, like me, who really tries my best to really take care of his skin.

"Talagang I take my time to sift through products, especially yung girlfriend ko, kasi siya, siya ang pumipili para sa akin.

"Kaya talagang inaalagahan niya din yung skin ko, so very perfect."

Danzel noted that it was Lhyra who actually motivated him to be more mindful of his skincare routine.

"Actually, before, wala akong specific routine. Parang gumagamit na ako, actually, yung set of skincare, then okay na.

"Ngayon, nadagdagan na, may facial wash, may toner, may serum, may moisturizer, lahat.

"So very, ano na, naging daily night routine ko. Actually, and also morning, morning and night."

Danzel hopes to break the stigma that men shouldn't be involved in skincare.

"Well, I think gone are the days where we feel like things that women do are not applicable to men.

"Because ngayon, di ba, there are actually some makeup brands that cater to men. So as we progress, we really need to try to develop ourselves and to be more open to these kinds of things.

"Like ako, me personally, I use lots of skincare.

"And ang ini-invest naman natin ay ang ating sarili. So what we do want to take care of is ourselves.

"That's why we shouldn't, we just try to be more open-minded sa bagay na yun. For goodness sake, it's the 21st century.

"Walang yung pagbabago and siguro we need to evolve na naman."
