Sleep means different things to different people.

For some, it’s a luxury; for others, it’s a struggle between exhaustion and restlessness.

But for actress-entrepreneur Julia Montes, sleep has become both a personal priority and a professional pursuit.

The Swiss Proli Natural Night Gummies launch marks her first-ever foray into the food supplement business—a venture she co-owns with chemist and entrepreneur Pinky Tobiano, CEO of KPP Powers Commodities Inc.

Together, they have created a proudly Filipino-made supplement formulated to help users drift into deeper, more restorative sleep.

The brand officially makes its debut on November 4, 2025, at Marquis Events Place in Bonifacio Global City.

Guests arrive in elegant sleepwear, perfectly matching the night’s dreamy atmosphere.

Beyond its playful theme, however, the launch symbolizes something bigger: a movement toward wellness and balance in an industry that where sleeplessness is all too common.

Julia's version of a perfect night

As the new face and co-owner of a sleep-centric brand, Julia is asked how she defines a perfect night.

Her answer is both simple and deeply revealing of her values.

“Siguro, lahat ng family ko, lahat safe na nasa bahay—perfect night yun,” she expresses with a smile.

“Matutulog ka na alam mong lahat ligtas. Yun ang aking perfect night.”

For Julia, peace of mind is the truest luxury. No candle, pillow mist, or plush bedding compares to the comfort of knowing her loved ones are safe.

And now, she hopes her brand can offer that same sense of calm to others.

She shares that just one gummy can help induce deeper sleep and accelerate the body’s entry into REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep—the stage associated with vivid dreams and memory restoration.

“It helps you reach that deep, uninterrupted rest that your body needs to recharge,” she says.

According to the Sleep Foundation, REM sleep is the fourth and final stage of the sleep cycle, a period critical to emotional regulation and cognitive recovery.

Is losing sleep worth it for Julia?

While the product itself champions rest, Julia admits there are a few things that still keep her awake—mostly for good reason.

“Yung mga negosyo,” she tells PEP.ph in an exclusive interview.

“Siyempre, kailangan i-sigurado mo muna na paggising mo sa kinabukasan, lahat naka-prep na sila. So, doon ako medyo nabi-busy.”

Her business ventures have expanded over the years, from food and wellness to potential lifestyle projects.

She laughs about the irony of promoting better sleep while occasionally sacrificing her own, but she recognizes it as part of her growth as a businesswoman.

So what’s the only thing worth losing sleep over for Julia Montes?

“Oras sa family,” she answers without hesitation.

NOOD KA MUNA!

“Lahat ng opportunity naman, iga-grab ko. Maibigay mo lang sa kanila, gagawin ko kahit wala pang tulog.”

Her words sum up her philosophy that rest is vital, but love and purpose sometimes transcend even the body’s need to shut down.

Dreaming for everyone's well-being and security

The night’s atmosphere is light and whimsical, but when asked what she would dream of if she could make it come true the next day, Julia’s tone softens.

“Sana peace sa lahat, sa atin dito sa Pilipinas,” she responds.

“Ang sarap isipin na lahat tayo wala nang iisiping problema.

“Alam ko walang perfect, pero yung peaceful lang tayo lahat kasi, iba yung pakiramdam kapag may peaceful life ka.”

She pauses before adding, “Sana lahat tayo, kahit nasa laylayan pa, kung nasaan man tayo sa estado ng buhay, lahat sana tayo at peace.”

For someone who has spent much of her career navigating the public eye while protecting her private life, Julia’s wish for collective peace feels empathic.

THE SCIENCE OF REST
