Saad niya, "Progressive. Progressive..."
Binanggit niya ang 1891 German play ni Frank Wedekind na Frühlings Erwachen o Spring Awakening, isang coming-of-age story ng teenagers papuntang adulthood.
Kabaligtaran daw ni Lea ang mom character sa play.
Saad niya: "She's completely not like that.
"And the show opens with Wendla's [Bergmann] mom not telling her how children are, how babies are made.
"My mom, I think, is the complete opposite of Wendla, of Wendla's mom, I mean.
"Like, I think, she's open, she's loving, she's kind.
"She's one of the most understanding people I've ever known.
"And, you know, I really don't think I could have asked for a better mother, and I think that if I was with anybody else, that I wouldn't be where I am today.
"And I wouldn't, you know, I wouldn't be able to sing her praises and everything."
Protective ba si Lea?
Aniya, "Yes, but she also knows that I can take care of myself."
Napalo raw siya isang beses sa buong buhay niya at hindi na ito naulit.

NIC CHIEN ON SIMILARITIES WITH MOM LEA SALONGA
Si Nic ay anak ni Lea sa sa estranged husband nitong si Robert Chien.
Ayon kay Nic, masayahing tao ang ina.
"Like, when she's happy, she's beaming. She's beaming when she's happy, you know?
"And when she's... And we're... When she's very emotional or proud, ganito ang mukha [parang malungkot na blangko ang itsura.]"
Ano namang ugali ang namana niya sa ina?
"People tell me that I talk like my mom. Can you tell me?
"People tell me that I talk like my mom. People tell me that I move like her.
"I don't really see it. People tell me, funnily enough, after I started taking testosterone, people said... my mom... I agree, I started looking more like my mom.
"As a kid, I looked like talaga like my dad.
"But my mom believes, like, it's following the saying, boys look like their moms and girls look like their dads.
"So when I was a girl, I looked like my dad. And now, lalaki ako, I look like her. So there's that."
Umaming bisexual si Nic sa parayam sa kanya ng Rated Korina noong February 2, 2026.
Ayon sa kanya, grade school pa lamang siya ay alam na niya ang kanyang sexual orientation.
"I think, like, I was for two years or so, I was gender fluid for a while, but I figured that I am bisexual.
"I figured that out in Grade Five. I’m attracted to my friends who are girls, but I’m also attracted to guys.
"I figured it out pretty early."
