Cristalle Belo wants to debunk the notion that rich people don't need to breastfeed their babies because they can "afford formula."

Cristalle Belo is obsessed with her son, Hunter James.

"Hunter is so adorable, he's so sweet," the new celebrity mom gushed. "Honestly, when people used to tell me, 'You'll be in love, you'll be in love, you'll be obsessed.'

"Parang OA naman, you’ll be obsessed! And now I know, it's true..."

All of a sudden, the career-driven Cristalle has minimized her time at work to maximize her bonding moments with Hunter.

"Before we'd really take time sitting in meetings, now it's like, 'Okay, guys, we have one hour for meeting! Fast, fast, fast!

"One hour and a half because I wanna go home to Hunter!'" the Belo Medical group managing director related.

"It makes things more efficient din also, di ba? Seriously, he's just happiness in a little person. He's so cute!"

PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) had a chance to catch up with Cristalle at the Belo Beauty Suite in Makati Shangri-La last September 29.

BREASTFEEDING MAMA

Cristalle was surprised to learn about people's preconceived notions on breastfeeding.

"A lot of people in Instagram, they always say, 'Ang yaman-yaman mo, bakit ka nagbe-breastfeed? And I want to correct that notion," she said.

"A lot of the people still think now if you're mayaman, you can afford formula so go formula. But at the end of the day, breast milk is still the super duper best for babies."

Cristalle was happy to say that she has been breastfeeding Hunter "exclusively for four months."

She continued, "I always say na I’m gonna breastfeed for six months just so there’s no pressure. I’m not committed to anything, but ideally, I wanna get to one year.

"I wanna give him all the nutrients, especially because he's premature. I want to give him that head start in life, and that's something my breast milk can give him, di ba?"

Cristalle also considered breastfeeding as a "good bonding" between her and Hunter.

"It helps me relax at night. I’ll come home, and then he’ll latch.

"It's time to just quiet down and just be present."

DIFFICULT BIRTHING

Cristalle also recalled briefly her birthing story.

Hunter James was born prematurely with Cristalle only 33 weeks into her pregnancy then.

"Ay, my god, we went through such an ordeal," she began. "We went through the whole premature thing for seven days [in the hospital], then on the seventh day, he got a hospital-acquired infection.

"He’s only seven days old and he started doing antibiotics. Kawawa naman!

"We were in the hospital for a total of 20 days..."

Cristalle was thankful that her son managed to pull through their hospital ordeal.

She added, "It just proves that he’s such a strong little boy.

"I think he knew that he had a purpose to be present for his parents, because if not, my god, I don't know what I would have gone through...

"He's such a resilient little boy."

Hunter James was born on May 28.
