Airport, in essence, is just a transient place for travelers.

It's also the gateway to your destination.

Do not cause any kind of trouble for yourself, more so for others.

The word to remember at the airport is "BEHAVE."

If you want things to be spelled out, remember these reminders:

1. Don't be late.

If you're required to be at the airport two hours before your flight, be there.

Check the time indicated on your boarding pass. Be ready. Once the gate closes, it will never open for you.

2. Don't lose any of your documents.

Guard your plane ticket and passport with your life. And that tiny immigration card can be easily misplaced.

Remember the horrible experience of sisters Alodia and Ashley Gosiengfiao in Mexico in 2017. They missed their flight and spent PHP85,000 to rebook because the airport personnel failed to hand them back their immigration forms.

3. Don't leave your baggage unattended.

This does not just apply at the airport.

Whenever you are travelling, consider your bag as your most valuable possession.

4. Don't take pictures near the immigration area.

You can have selfie galore in all the other corners of the airport, but keep your camera the minute you approach an immigration officer.

5. Do not raise your voice ever.

Regardless of the situation, never ever lose your cool even if the worse happens such as misplaced luggage.

In the Philippines, you can be declared an undesirable alien if you disrespect an officer.

You can be an Internet sensation, too, if the commotion is captured on video by the netizens.

6. Do not litter.

If you get caught at the Pune International Airport in Maharashtra, India, the fine is the equivalent of PHP1,500 in rupee.

In 2015, at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, a seaman bound for Singapore was stopped by the Immigration officers for failing to settle his littering case.

7. Do not sleep on the chairs.

Or do not let your handcarry bags sit on the chair.

Be mindful of other passengers who will need the space.

Lastly, do your own research before travelling. Know the rules and the country's culture, and respect them no matter what. DO NOT BE AN AS*HOLE.
