TV5 Chairman Manuel "Manny" Pangilinan (inset) graced the special occassion and was in good spirits throughout the evening.

"Siyempre dadami ang aming reporters, which is good because it means it will increase our news gathering capabilities," sabi ni Mr. Espinosa.

(CLICK HERE to read related article.)

"These are the cameras that can broadcast from anywhere even without an OB Van," maikling paliwanag ni Mr. Barreiro.

MULTIMEDIA PLATFORMS.

"True to its commitment to ignite a new kind of firebrand journalism that goes beyond traditional news reporting, News5 rises to the challenge of bringing comprehensive and up-to-the-minute news by launching a massive 360-degree convergence of various multimedia platforms to deliver relevant and real-time news updates to Filipinos all across the country and around the world," pahayag ng TV5 sa kanilang press statement na ibinahagi during the event.

Paliwanag pa ni Mr. Barreiro, "Yung news kasi, di ba, you can repurpose it? Meron kang online, meron kang mobile, meron kang ganito. This is really our statement that we're very serious in news, that we intend to be there as it happens and where it happens—live!"

"News is a content that is really cheaper to produce than entertainment," diretso niyang pahayag.

"Pag meron kang dalawang channel na magku-compete with each other, siyempre it affects your revenue. So, you have your primary channel and then you have a secondary channel, and most likely malulugi yong secondary channel mo kasi content niya halos pareho lang sa primary channel.

"But news is very different. News has its own audience talaga who really want to listen to commentaries, opinions... Meron talagang market. So, for us, it's a cheaper investment."

GOING FULL BLAST.

Now That I Have You," at "Everlasting Love."

Nagsilbi namang main hosts ng gabing iyon sina Face to Face host Amy Perez at news anchor Martin Andanar.

"Aksyon TV is the latest vehicle that we have in terms of delivering not only news and information, but also sports. This is a 24/7 news and information and sports service, that will also deliver news updates every 30 minutes," panimula ni Mr. Pangilinan sa kanyang speech.

"We've always wanted to create a news and entertainment vehicle that will equip the management of TV5 with various platforms. So we have our VHF TV channel which is TV5, and then we have our news online InterAksyon.com, then of course we're the first AM radio station on FM, and now, Aksyon TV.

"So the only missing piece so far will be the international service which we hope to launch by May in the U.S. and Canada.

"Now, the other piece of activity that we'd like to focus on in the coming months is our ability to promote and propagate sports here in the Philippines. And when we launched the sports foundation about a week ago, we have promised to support not only basketball but seven other sports, whose content we would like to push on the various platforms that TV5 has created.

"I'd like to thank and congratulate the men and women of News5. To Luchi Cruz, principally, to our staff, writers, reporters, and all the rest of News5, congratulations! You've done so much in so little a time."
