Anne Curtis feels “a sense of achievement” after winning second acting award

“Shocking kasi yung first, e. Yung second kasi parang it not ‘one time, big time.’ Ito, parang may sense of achievement. You know, it wasn’t an easy way up. I mean, it took me 15 years," says Anne Curtis about getting another acting recognition.

Anne won a best actress award in the recently concluded 60th Famas Awards for her performance in the 2011 box-office hit No Other Woman.

(CLICK HERE to read related story.)

Every time na nakikita ko yung award, parang, ‘Oh, my God!’ It’s my first Famas kasi, e. So, I’m still on a high,” sabi ni Anne nang makapanayam siya ng PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) kagabi, Setyembre 28, sa press conference ng bago niyang movie project, ang A Secret Affair.

Sabi pa niya, “Shocking kasi yung first, e. Yung second kasi parang it is not ‘one time, big time.’ Ito, parang may sense of achievement.

“You know, it wasn’t an easy way up. I mean, it took me 15 years.

“So, mas lalo ko siyang na-appreciate, because it took me so long of doing roles na maarte, balikbayan, kapatid ni Kim delos Santos..."

“That’s why I appreciate it more, kasi hindi siya ibinigay sa akin. Parang I had to do all these roles muna bago mabigay ‘yong lead role.”

AIMING FOR ANOTHER AWARD?

“I don’t know,” nakangiting sagot ni Anne.

“With No Other Woman, I didn’t really assume or think of it in any way.

“I guess, ganun na kasi ang mentality ko kahit dati pa, na I really don’t have it in my mind.

“Kahit na hindi yung mabait o bida ang kinukuha kong role, you don’t do it kasi thinking that it has to be an award-winning performance.

“It’s just because you enjoy it. It’s like a cherry on top na lang when you get an award.”

Aniya, “I’ll do whatever roles I feel, or something that I enjoy doing.”

A SECRET AFFAIR IS DIFFERENT FROM NO OTHER WOMAN.

Pero depensa ng Kapamilya actress, “It’s just different in terms of the situation siguro.

“In A Secret Affair kasi we’re not married. But there’s a married couple and it’s not us. So, it’s a story about betrayal.

“People are just assuming that it’s about the mistress because of the title, A Secret Affair.

“But a secret affair doesn’t mean you’re a mistress. It could be you’re cheating on your boyfriend, di ba?

“So, that’s the difference, it’s about betrayal.

Para kay Anne, “I think there’s always a time where it goes around. In the ‘80s, it happened, it was a trend. In the ‘90s, it happened, it was a trend.

“So now, it’s a trend. Parang umiikot lang. It’s a story kasi that you will never grow old [of hearing].”

Kung may maganda mang epekto ang ganitong klase ng pelikula, sabi ni Anne, “In a way, it’s also a wake-up call for other people. Kasi lagi namang may moral to the story kapag movie, e.

“May time na inire-realize yung pagkakamali. So, hindi siya gino-glorify because there’s a moral to the story, if it’s a movie. Sa totoong buhay, hindi ko na alam.

“But I don’t think dumadami [ang nagiging third party]. If ever nga, mas nagiging wary yung mga asawa or girlfriend ng boyfriend because you learn in the movie kung ano yung mga signs na puwedeng mag-doubt.”

“Siguro, what makes me different here, siguro I’m so used to portray the role of the feisty one,” paglalarawan ng dalagang aktres.

“So, dito, I have to medyo mag-tame, aralin kung paano kumilos, bawasan ang pag-angat ng kilay, and stuff like that.

“Kasi, I’m so used to doing these roles, e.

“But dito, I had to learn how to control each nuances and mannerisms.

“It was challenging for me, but nakaka-enjoy din.

"Although, I requested na maybe there should be a little bit of naughtiness kahit papaano, kasi as a woman, hindi ka talaga magpapatalo, e.”
