Comedian/actor Vice Ganda fulfills a dream as he co-stars with award-winning actress Maricel Soriano in the upcoming 2013 Metro Manila Film entry, Girl Boy Bakla Tomboy.
The It’s Showtime! host described the Diamond Star an “icon”—“gay icon” to be exact.
“Bilang isang bakla, masayang-masaya siyang [maging] ina. Makakasama ko siya at long last.
“Pinapangarap ko lang, ginagaya ko lang siya sa pelikula, ngayon kasama ko na siya,” Vice told the press on Friday, August 2, at the story conference of Girl Boy Bakla Tomboy at Mom and Tina’s restaurant along Sgt. Esguerra Avenue, Quezon City.
In a separate interview during the story conference, the Diamond Star expressed that the feeling is mutual between her and Vice.
“E, malaki rin naman niya akong fan,” said Maricel.
PRIOR CONNECTION. According to Vice, he and the actress had a timely meeting prior to shooting their movie project.
As soon as the comedian found out that the Diamond Star was dining at a nearby restaurant where he was, Vice grabbed the opportunity to meet and have his picture taken with his idol actress.
“Nagkaro’n na kami ng connection! Pagkatapos nun, naging parang chummy-chummy na.”
Vice followed up the meeting by asking for Maricel’s number from their common friends.
“Tapos ipinatawag niya ako sa kanya, super text kami sa phone.
“Tapos nag-guest siya sa Showtime, ganyan-ganyan…
“Tapos lagi niya akong ini-invite sa bahay. E, hindi naman ako makapunta dahil ang daming ganap sa buhay ko din.
“Lagi kaming nag-uusap sa phone,” said Vice.
Maricel confirmed the comedian’s account with a brief reply during her interview, “Oo naman. Nangyari yun.”
When asked what their bonding moments are like, the actress quipped, “Secret! Amin na lang yun, di ba? Ikaw naman, gusto mo malaman lahat.”
BACK TO DOING COMEDY. Earlier this year, Maricel was dropped from the cast of the upcoming ABS-CBN soap Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin after getting into a skirmish with her young co-star, Gerald Anderson.
The incident forced the management to no longer include the actress in the cast, at the same time announcing that the teleserye will push through with Maricel being replaced by seasoned actress Dawn Zulueta.
At the Friday story conference, the Diamond Star appeared to have put the unfortunate incident behind her.
“Nakapag-shooting na kasi ako, e. Nag-break lang kami pero masaya… talagang happy kami ni Direk [Wenn Deramas].”
Maricel may have lost the teleserye project this year but the actress was cast in back-to-back comedy films— Oh My Mamma Mia! with comedienne Eugene Domingo and Girl Boy Bakla Tomboy with Vice Ganda. Both films are helmed by Wenn Deramas.
“Balik-komedya na naman, ‘ika nga!” remarked the Diamond Star.
She added, “Ano, e, hindi kami nahirapan dahil alam mo kung bakit? Si Direk, komedyante talaga, e.
“Tapos, kakatapos ko lang nung kay Uge [Eugene], di ba?
“Kaya ito, segue naman. Segue ako kaya tuloy-tuloy lang yung ligaya!”
Does the Diamond Star have plans of returning to drama anytime soon?
Maricel replied, “Wag na muna masyadong madrama kaya nung pumutok, Chinese New Year ang dating, di ba?
“Naguluhan ako nun, e! Kaya tama na muna.
“Magpatawa na lang muna tayo ngayon. Kasi nakakagulat, di ba? Nagulat rin ako, e!”
The actress ended the brief interview herself, as she told the press, “Oo, tama na. Halika ka na, magsiupo na kayo!
“Baka kung sa’n mapunta ang usapan na ito, di ba? Nakakanerbiyos, e.”
