Regine Velasquez on her late father, Mang Gerry: "I am his legacy."

Pero I have this overwhelming joy inside me. I know that he’s really doing well. He’s in heaven. His back is straight. He’s got teeth. Bakit ako malulungkot pa kung alam ko na he’s better off there than he was here?" says Regine Velasquez about her late father, Mang Gerry, in an interview with Philippine Entertainment Portal (PEP.ph).

“I just look at it this way, God gave us a little bit of time to be prepared for this.

“And ok na rin kasi he really needed to rest na. He was tired,” bungad ni Regine.

NO NEED TO ANNOUNCE.

What would be my purpose?

“But I kept asking for prayers because, at that time, that’s all we can do.

“We can’t do anything naman, e. Nasa ospital naman siya. May doctor siya.

“Pero he was really getting well. I didn’t see the need to announce it to the whole world.

“As a matter of fact, whenever people ask me about it, I always say he’s ok.

“Of course, we were praying that he would get better,” pagbabalik-tanaw ni Regine.

Even my mother knew it was time.

“He really didn’t look well na, e.

"Pero I have this overwhelming joy inside me.

“I know that he’s really doing well. He’s in heaven. His back is straight. He’s got teeth.

“Bakit ako malulungkot pa kung alam ko na he’s better off there than he was here?

“Here he was suffering, he was in pain. I don’t like that.”

Nakangiting sagot ng Asia’s Songbird, “Me. I am his legacy.

“This is his dream. For me to be able to share God’s gift. So I am his legacy.”

BONDING WITH SON.

“Naku! Ang dami niyang sinasabing opinyon. They say this is the difficult age dahil ‘terrible two.’

“But it’s not so terrible because he’s a good boy.

“I am working, pero ang maganda sa work ko, hindi naman every day.

“Kanina tumawag ako. Sabi niya agad, ‘Kain Nate egg.’

"Tinanong ko, ‘Dami ba kinakain mo?’ ‘Dami kain Nate.’

“Yun yung first and foremost na gusto naming i-instill sa kanya.

“Kapag kilala mo na si God, everything else will follow.

“Automatic na alam mo na yung tama and mali.

“Kapag nagkaroon siya ng relationship with God, I don’t have to worry about anything.”
